Do you think French pedicures are chic or ridiculous?

Does anyone here gets French pedis?

I think they are chic, but grow out too fast. Or maybe it's just me: my toe nails seem to grow faster than my fingernails for some odd reason.

Alternatively I would totally go for all-white nails, in fact, that may be my next experiment.

I wouldn't say ridiculous but they aren't really my style. I prefer solid, often bright, colors. :)

I think they look nice but they just aren't practical for me as a french is not very forgiving (shows chips easy). I prefer my pedi's for pure functionality (clean, buffed, trim, neat) vs. color though so am glad to see fall come. It's just hard for me to justify 45-60 minutes in a chair waiting for someone to do my toes when I could be doing something more productive (you know like reading & posting on a blog - LOL). I do learn a lot here though! :)

I think they look great! It’s not a look I go for myself, but I’m interested to know why anyone would think they look ridiculous?

JewelryGirl, in my experience, french manicures actually last longer. Because even if they chip, it's just not that noticeable.

Problem with pedis is that they don't chip much, so the issue is more about nail growth. For example I got my pedi weeks ago - a dark blue - it hasn't yet chipped, but I have had to trim the nails. Which is fine if the nail paint is all one color. If it's a french manicure, you risk cutting off the white part. Make sense?

Isn't this just a matter of personal taste? I don't like them for myself (prefer a standard pedicure in some bright color), but have never thought anything either way of other women sporting them.

I think they are nice. Actually, I find any kind of well-manicured nail to be nice :)

I love them when I could get professional pedis. When I do my own pedi, I don't go for french because it is time consuming.

I like them, or at least a variation of them.

I think a full-on French pedi (with the thick white strip) can look a bit weird on some feet, but I love a thin, thin, white tip. I just paint the very edges of the nail white, then go over it all with a pale pink or nude. It doesn't look "French", but just very clean and neat. It is time-consuming, though, and I haven't done it at all this summer.

I like the look but always do my own toenails and can't keep them neat for some reason i'm fine doing french on my finger nails but not toes.
Shiny i saw a girl with white polish on her toenails the other day it looked great really cool and crisp x

I think they are great, very chic and they last longer than on the hands!

My personal preference is for toenails to be quite short, so a French pedi to me tends to look like there is too much nail growth -- like if there is enough nail to paint the underside white, it should have probably been trimmed instead.

I think Ele is onto something in advocating a very thin white strip instead of a thick line -- maybe that's the key.

I don't care for them; to me they make the toenails look waaaay too long. I prefer a solid, usually bright, color, or a pale neutral. The color isn't as important to me as the preference for short, square shaped nails. Quite frequently when I see a french pedi the wearer has toenails that are much longer than I would care for. But I do like the notion of a very thin, shiny pale line at the top - that might be a better look, strictly my opinion!

I think they are very elegant. I've only had two pedicures, and I did a french for one of them. It did seem to last longer for the reasons shiny mentioned.

My one and only pedicure this summer was a twist on the french pedi: instead of the usual white tips, I got a thin-ish line of pale blush pink on all my toes and a flowery design on my big toe in the same pink with tiny, tiny white accents. The overall effect was so girly and delicate, I loved it! It lasted forever...took me through two weddings and a summer of beaches and city walking...but I finally took it off and painted my toes a solid bright yellow- which makes me smile every time I look down at my feet =)

I love a purple twist on french manicure on my finger nails- lilac base with dark purple tips x
