I wear linen shorts and long-sleeved shirts to the beach or when walking outdoors in summer with a hat (in Finds). To the gym I wear leggings or joggers with longer t-shirts.

Janet, they do look good. Too bad about the XXS, I don't think I've been that size since middle school. Athleta is not making me happy for the past year or so.

This is very timely for me! I started a new exercise class on Saturday and was very worried that my exercise capsule would be out of date! Last time I was a gym-goer I wore Athleta long leggings and tech tees or tanks. I was worried that leggings were totally out, but when I got there most people were still wearing either leggings or bike shorts. Most people were wearing tight/bare tanks on top, but I felt fine in my graphic tee. (It was mixed ages -- I might have been the oldest and there were people of all ages from 60s down to 20s.)

For walking in my neighborhood, I generally wear shorts and a tee if the weather is nice.

The only exercise I do in heat is swimming. Hiking, running, etc. would preferably be done with as little sun as possible, in the morning or evening.

If I were going to be doing stuff in the heat...I also have age (legs) as a consideration. I might look in uncoventional places like dance wear or martial arts wear. I have gotten good stuff from Capezio.

Carol - not sure what you meant "age(legs) as a consideration", sorry.

I think I'm a fair bit older than you , lol, however I think you live in a much hotter area than I do ? I biked about 16 km a day in close to 30C heat last week - but I'm always sunscreened-up now. And I agree - in those temps I'm doing things in the mornings or evenings.

Bijou - your pieces are so pretty. There's no way I could do any form of exercise in linen though with the amount of laundry I seem to create . I'd be too scared to be washing it all the time.

I had ignored this thread because I work out exclusively at home (and have done so for more than forty years) and wear the most boring and functional outfit: leggings, sports bra and tank top. When I walk it is in my normal clothes. But I am glad I looked because I see I am not alone. Interesting thread!

On the topic of "age/legs," I have always had nice legs and worn shorts with impunity. Today I noticed that the skin on my legs is getting kind of crepey and decided "eh -- that's my skin, those are my legs -- the rest of the world can just deal with it!"
