I think balloon pants just might be the ticket for an item I truly need this summer--especially something in a gauzy, light-colored fabric.
They remind me of something...bazaars, deserts, baskets, embroidery...kidnapping? All of a sudden, I remembered where in pop culture I had seen this item, and it is the Karen Allen kidnapping scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones), 1981.
A memorable scene with lots of action, set in the street of Cairo on a sunny, leisurely morning interrupted by men with knives and scimitars. Good thing she wore a low heel.
This outfit is apparently more memorable than I realized, because it is an established Halloween costume, often a couples costume, alongside Indiana Jones. The whole outfit is cute, but I particularly like the low-heel wedge. That sounds like a great shoe to wear with these pants.
