Uniqlo quality and pricing are fantastic. My husband and son are the Uniqlo shoppers in my family. They love the Airism underwear and the designer colabs and interesting t-shirt designs. Needles is a trendy Japanese label and my son bought a very cute cardigan from Uniqlo recently which looks fantastic on him as he is tall and slender (stock photo attached).

Occasionally I will find something fab for me, but it is not really a store that I see me building a core wardrobe from - the styling and colour palette is quite different from my preferred maximal style.

We have a local store near me, and Uniqlo used to take returns. It made ordering online really easy. But about three years ago, the policy changed, and returns in store were not allowed for online orders. If they had your item in stock at the store and you wanted to exchange what you ordered for another size or color, that was allowed. Unfortunately, our store was a very small one, so only the basics were stocked.

I'm a lot more careful with my ordering these days because of Uniqlo's policy. When we travel, if our destination(s) has a large Uniqlo, I'll go in and check it out. Some of my best Uniqlo scores, including collabs, have been in Berlin, Hamburg, Victoria, BC, and NYC.

Our store looks pretty huge to me - no idea how it is in comparison to others though. I can see your point , Bijou, about not looking to it for wardrobe building blocks. I'm in that same boat. I don't wear a lot of plain , basic clothes, and look for things that are a little more elevated. Well, in my head, I do, lol. I am seeing from all of the great comments here that I'm not their target customer anyways, so I doubt I'll spend any more energy on this . The linen shorts tempted me, but like most other basic-ish pieces, how many pair of shorts does one need? I'm covered for all of the stuff they sell.
