London-based Lisa Welden Lennkh (47) is a blogger and freelance writer who documents her outfits over at The Sequinist. Her style is Modern Classic and ladylike with the occasional Hard-Edged detail. She couldn’t live without glitter and sequins, loves heels and statement shoes, and values great quality pieces. Lisa likes to wear black but enjoys sporting bold colours too. She has a penchant for luxe coats and quirky accessories.

“I don’t think my style has evolved drastically, but perhaps it is slightly more quirky now than a few years ago. I still wear things in my closet that are 10 or 20 years old. When I worked in banking, I was fairly classic with a side of quirky or sparkly. Now I serve up a double portion! I still try to maintain the elegance, but I add more twists and am much braver mixing it up now (like camouflage and sequins, for instance). A few years ago when I had my son, I completely put my style on hold for a year or two, but I picked up where I had left off and resumed my love of statement pieces fairly quickly.”

Daytime sparkle with an edge. Lisa is a huge lover of glitter and sequins, and happily sports them day and night. For this daytime look, she’s dressed down a silver sequined pencil skirt with a camouflage print jacket. The belted style accentuates Lisa’s waist. The below-the-knee length skirt creates a long lean line. Black Rockstud pumps and a wide studded bracelet further emphasize the fun juxtaposition between dressy and Hard Edge. Pink lipstick and Lisa’s blonde locks add soft contrast.

In this monochrome outfit Lisa is showing us three different ways to wear the same navy silk blouse with detachable tie. First she tucked the blouse into navy straight leg jeans and wrapped the tie around her waist as a belt, which gives the effect of wearing a jumpsuit. Wrapping the tie thrice around her neck and wearing it pussy bow style is a second option. In the third iteration, Lisa is wearing the blouse ’70s style, unbuttoned, with the bow undone and worn as a skinny scarf. Black glittery cut-out pumps, a blue bracelet and silver earrings add subtle sparkle. A black envelope clutch finishes off the look.

Another great example of how to dress down sequins for daytime. Lisa is wearing a relaxed fit sweater with a mix of matte and shiny sequins. The unusual colour combination and colour block style make it a real statement piece. Pairing it with black skinny pants tucked into slouchy black boots casualizes the look. The animal print detailing on the boots is a fun way to do a spot of pattern mixing. Bright pink lipstick echoes the fuchsia colour in the sweater.

Lisa is a fan of “More is More”, and loves a good statement piece. When asks if she is eyeing anything in particular for Fall/Winter 2016, she said:

“The item I have fallen madly in love with is a Dolce & Gabbana coat, completely covered in jewel-toned paillette sequins. Technically, it is from their Spring and Summer 2017 collection, but it is a piece that could be worn year round. It is so far out of my budget that I have decided I am going to DIY my own version instead, that’s how much I love it! It will take me a few weeks, but I know I will wear it forever. I’ll wear it with jeans for daytime or with a black dress underneath for evening. I’d keep everything else pretty minimal (for once) because the coat does ALL the work. I’ve also got my eye on a vintage sequin iridescent-cream long trench coat from the 1960s. It is a maximalist showstopping piece that you could wear anywhere, any season, with anything. I’ll still be wearing it long after the current Gucci-influenced maximalist trend fades away. I always say it is impossible to have a bad day in sequins, so the more I can incorporate them into my wardrobe, the better.”

Lisa embraces her inner bombshell in this alluring little V-neck number in vivid red. The sleeveless frock hits our 5’8″ blogger just above the knees and accentuates her fab curves. An oversized, multi-coloured Swarovski crystal necklace fills in the V-neckline and makes a playful statement. Eye-catching poppy red pointy toe d’Orsay pumps with black lace-up ribbons add a fun flirty touch. A black clutch with gold stud detailing and oversized tortoise shell sunnies are the accessories of choice. Lisa’s cosy cashmere wrap in a matching red is the elegant finishing touch.

An elegant smart casual look built around a black column of colour. Lisa has layered a light blue sweater coat over a simple black top and a pair of black woven leggings. The maxi cardigan is sleek and streamlined. The light blue pops against the black, and is extremely flattering against our blogger’s beautiful  peaches and cream skin. The purple and turquoise kitten heels are trademark Lisa, and these too work perfectly with the light blue and black. As do the dainty multi-coloured glass necklace, studded cuff bracelet and coral lippie. For extra warmth, Lisa can throw on a faux fur stole in a complementary blue. Cosy and chic.

This “Evil Eye Mesh Dress” has Lisa’s name written all over it. It’s quirky, sequined, and makes a unique statement. A real conversation starter! The frock is semi-transparent so she layered it over a black slip dress for extra coverage. The elbow-length sleeves and Lisa’s skin peeking through add structure and interest to the relaxed fit style. Her black glittery cut-out pumps complement the sparkly sequins perfectly. Blue mirrored sunnies echo the blue in the dress. An oversized snakeskin patterned clutch is all that’s needed to finish off the look.
