I’ve been working long hours with clients preselecting items for this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It has been brilliant. Nordstrom has offered extended sizes across both sides of the spectrum, which I applaud. You’ll find many more items in larger sizes, as well as size US0, petite and XXS.
The strength of this year’s sale was in footwear, and that’s where I personally put the lion’s share of my NAS budget. The coat and knitwear assortment was disappointing, but the jacket selection was fabulous. Here’s a sneak peek of my top 24 items of this year’s sale:
- Maggy London Ruched Waist Midi Dress: BEST DRESS AT THE SALE if you like florals, enjoy sleeves, wear black patterns, adore midis, and like to define your waist. Extremely elegant, pretty, streamlining and flattering. Brilliant swoosh factor. Comes in many sizes and goes up to plus. TTS. Everyone who tried it on loved the silhouette, but the pattern is an acquired taste. Length is slightly longer on me, but not much. It followed me home.
- Halogen Halogen Leather Moto Jacket | Nordstrom: GORGEOUS pearl leather jacket with a cream sheen. Works on both apple and curvy hourglass body types. Looks like a designer piece. Works well on petites. Impeccable quality.
- Dolce Vita Dolce Vita Tommi Perforated Bootie (Women) | Nordstrom: BEST bootie at the NAS. EXTREMELY comfy, works on low and high-volume feet, softer than butter, and visually interesting. Works on narrower and wider ankles. Can be worn with fun socks, hose, footies or barefoot. Well made. Comes in grey and black, and the cognac followed me home.
- Caslon Caslon Leather Moto Jacket with Removable Hood (Regular & Petite) | Nordstrom: AMAZING casual leather jacket that was a bomb on petites, especially. Works well on a curvier and straighter body type. Hood is removable.
- KUT from the Kloth KUT from the Kloth Diana Plaid Skinny Ponte Pants (Regular & Petite) | Nordstrom: BEST skinnies at the sale. Almost every client bought these to tuck into tall boots or wear with booties or loafers. Fabric is very substantial and works for a range of body types.
- AVEC LES FILLES Avec Les Filles Faux Shearling Biker Jacket | Nordstrom: Amelia Earhart Chic. BEST fashion-forward jacket at the NAS. Extremely trendy, and comes in black AND plus sizes. Oversized and very fun. Suits most body types if you're prepared to wear an oversized look. Belt can be removed. I LOVED the brown and cream, but the black is fably hard-edged.
- 3.1 Phillip Lim 3.1 Phillip Lim Print Asymmetrical Ruffle Skirt (Nordstrom Exclusive) | Nordstrom: BEST skirt at the sale. It's BLUE - not black. Made of the lightest tweed, and is an asymmetrical work of art. It WOWED me. Brilliant drape and swoosh factor. Fun slits and asymmetrical hem. Extremely pretty and flattering. Can be dressed up or down. Best on those who like to define their waist. Impeccable quality. It followed me home.
- Halogen Halogen Cashmere Wrap | Nordstrom: BEST cashmere scarf at the sale. It functions as a wrap, but I think it looks better as a gigantic scarf on a long neck. Comes in toffee and grey. The toffee followed me home. Gorgeous quality.
- Eileen Fisher Eileen Fisher Hutton Ankle Strap Shoe (Women) | Nordstrom: A rare find that works on lower AND higher volume feet. Comes in three colours, and is very comfy. Elegant and pretty. Best on a narrower ankle. A substantial sole that does not feel too close to the ground.
- PIKOLINOS PIKOLINOS Pyrgos Oxford (Women) | Nordstrom: BEST oxford at the sale. Extremely comfortable, and works on a variety of foot shapes. The white sole prevents the shoe from looking too masculine. Comes in four colours. Impeccable quality. The cognac followed me home.
- Børn Børn Cardi Bootie (Women) | Nordstrom: BEST buckled bootie at the sale. VERY comfortable. A rare boot that works on lower AND higher volume feet. Stable and streamlined despite the buckles. Hardware is quite subtle. Comes in black and brown. The brown is on its way to me.
- AGL AGL Smoking Slipper (Women) | Nordstrom: BEST dressy flat at the sale. Almost every client came home with these, and some in a few colours. The suede can be treated, and the navy is the yummiest. Works on gentle bunions, and looks chic and trendy. Comfy and flattering. Works well on larger feet.
- Ecco ECCO Soft 7 Center Zip Sneaker (Women) | Nordstrom: BEST sneaker at the sale. ECCO's are amazingly comfy, and these are a pretty grey that look soft and fashionable. A client with very high insteps rocked them unzipped. Impeccable quality.
- Sam Edelman Sam Edelman Chesney Loafer (Women) | Nordstrom: BEST hard-edged flat at the sale. Extremely comfortable and softer than butter. Quite supportive, stable and a statement piece. Comes in white. Works on lower and higher volume feet, and with bunions. Size down half a size. Party on your feet.
- Aquatalia Aquatalia Letizia Weatherproof Boot (Women) | Nordstrom: BEST tall boots at the sale. A dressier riding boot that looked chic on all those with narrower calves. A nice hybrid that looks good with dresses and skirts, as well as over skinnies. Impeccable quality. Comes in brown.
- BLANKNYC BLANKNYC Meant to Be Moto Jacket | Nordstrom: BEST faux fur jacket at the sale. Adorable and robust. The faux leather is amazing, substantial and does not have an odd odour. The fit is small if you need a regular fit, but runs TTS when you need a narrow fit. It works surprisingly well on petites. Good arm length. Teal is the winner, but all three colours are nice - (there is a blush in stores).
- SOSKEN Sosken Quilted A-Line Jacket | Nordstrom: BEST architectural puffer at the sale. The photo does not do the coat justice. It's a Scandinavian design with side zippers that drape in the very best way. It WOWED me. For those with a long neck and long arms only. A trapeze cut that is genially streamlined. Works on a larger bust. Impeccable quality.
- Cole Haan GrandPro Tennis Shoe: Super cute camouflage sneakers that are as light as a feather. Extremely comfortable and comes in two shades of metallic camouflage. For the Magpies.
- Bernardo Bernardo Metallic Rain Jacket (Regular & Petite) | Nordstrom: Gorgeous copper-coloured raincoat with waist definition. Hangs well and looks quite chic. Comes in black. Best on a taller person, yet a few of my petite clients rocked it too.
- KUT from the Kloth KUT From the Kloth Haddie Faux Suede Moto Jacket (Regular & Petite) | Nordstrom: Super cute faux suede moto that is as soft as can be. Machine washable and very comfortable. Runs big so size down. Works on most body types and comes in three colours. Great on petites.
- BB Dakota BB Dakota Gabrielle Faux Leather Asymmetrical Jacket | Nordstrom: An affordable waterfall faux leather jacket that works as well on apple shapes as it does on curvy hourglasses and pear shapes. GREAT fit on a larger bust.
- Mackage Mackage Flat Wool Knit Collar Coat | Nordstrom: BEST tailored coat at the sale. Fitted and chic. Best on straighter figures and hourglasses. Must want to define your waist. Narrow fit. Impeccable quality.
- Mackage Mackage Water Repellent Down Jacket | Nordstrom: Gorgeous short puffer in a longer length. The forest green tartan gets my top pick. Best on those with broader shoulders. Streamlined fit despite the puff. Very warm. Impeccable quality.
- AGL AGL Pointy Toe Mule (Women) | Nordstrom: BEST dressy mule at the sale. Works best on higher volume feet. Comes in a pretty white, and is as soft as our silky Sam. Looks elegant on the foot, extremely comfortable. Impeccable quality.

The sale officially opens to the public on July 20 and prices go back up on August 5. My detailed lists of many, many more top picks goes out on midnight on Friday morning as usual. Don’t worry if your size is out of stock because sizes frequently come back into stock with customer returns and the restocking of items. Good hunting.
