The following items deserve a mention just because they’re fabulous, quite affordable and tried and tested on my clients. Take a peek.

Born Gena Metallic Sandals: I swear it’s like walking on little pillows! The reviews aren’t great but I was impressed with how comfortable these sandals were when I tried them on in stores. It just goes to show that you can’t always trust reviews. I sized down half a size.
Indigo by Clarks Calabria: I have several happy clients in this sandal. Runs true to size with a super cushioning footbed. The tan is very versatile but the orange has my heart. Great for the office too.
Naturalizer Joslin: Extremely comfortable and super sweet. Read the 40 raving reviews and click through all the colour options.
Sperry Top-Sider Montauk Leather Boat Shoe: These are adorable with denim short shorts. Preppy edge at it’s best.
Ann Taylor Twill Cropped Pants: Fashion forward and fabulous! I pulled up the hems so that they were shorter and more pouffy in silhouette when fitting them on my client, who fell in love with the style once she added a buttoned up cropped cardigan and nude peep toe pumps.
Ann Taylor Shimmery Tunic: It’s not a tunic but gorgeous and perfect for smart casual. Boxy and breezy, yet polished and chic.
Karen Kane Handkerchief Cowl Top: Soft, breezy and easy to launder. Works well over tapered bottoms and makes and interesting layering piece.
Drapey Pocket Blouse: This is the softest blouse I’ve felt all year. It’s machine washable and easy to wear both tucked and un-tucked with bottoms. Ventilating yet covered.
Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique Dolman Sleeve Jersey Dress: Tall gals, this one has a bit of length! The cut is sublime. Just try it on. The ruching does wonders at camouflaging extra bits.
Eddie Bauer Crinkle Dress: Superbly Summery and perfect for a casual gal on the go on hot, hot day. Click through all the colours and read the 64 glowing reviews.
Lisa Stewart Modern Myth Circle Pendant Necklace: Simple, versatile and interesting. Wear it with everything.

If you fancy bright colours and soft luscious fabrications, make your way to Zara as soon as possible. They don’t have an online store in the US, but check out their physical store if you have one nearby.

Argh, that Eddie Bauer dress is the kind of casual dress I’m looking for, but it’s sold out in my size in every color except the floral. I wonder if in-store I might have more luck?

Love the ATL blouse ~ again, that’s another one of those summer staples I’ve had little luck finding on my own. None available in my size nearby in either color according to their find-in-a-store option, so it looks like I’ll be placing an order online.

Angie, I love the Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique dress! Would it work for someone with a large bust or would it be unflattering with the high neck, dolman sleeves and the seam across the chest area?

Your fabulous finds are always a treat. I tried on the Eddie Bauer dress early in the spring and liked the fit but decided it may be too young for a woman my age. It’s a great casual little dress and the neckline can be adjusted so that it isn’t too low.
Love the Suzi Chin dress and AT shimmery blouse and some of those low heeled sandal choices.

wow! i love the various flat shoes/sandals, the ann taylor shimmer blouse, and the cropped pants—those pants would probably work for me as non-crops (one advantage of being short!)

Thank you Angie! I love these list. I ordered the Eddie Bauer dress. I hope it works as a weekend option. I want another pair of metallic sandals. I keep going back and forth from the Born’s to the Naturalizers. The necklace is calling my name too.

These list definitely help me up my style quota. There are always items on the list that I would have never found on my own.

Yellowgirl, it’s hard to say. The clients that I’ve had in this dress were not particularly full on the bust. But they were tall and there was enough length. Lower necklines look best on a full bust for sure, but you never know. It depends entirely on the drape of the garment – and this dress drapes superbly.

The Ann Taylor Twill cropped pants look very intriguing. Could be a great work option. I’ll check them out tonite – have a shopping date with a friend at Pacific Place tonight.

Also love the look of those Born sandals. If I hadn’t JUST bought (and already worn) a pair of comfy casual summer sandals in pewter (from Naturalizer), I’d be all over these.

Oh and that dress looks gorgeous. Not my colors, but I bet it’ll look stunning on women who dig green!

Oh, I do have a question regarding those Ann Taylor pants. Of course I don’t have any idea yet on how they’ll fit me and whether I’ll like them on me etc. But if they do: Do you expect this style/cut to remain fashionable in fall? I’d hate to spend the money on a trendy item that goes out of style quickly, especially since it’s nearing summer (well, maybe) and I will likely wear more dresses than pants soon. Any trend forecasting regarding this style?? Thanks

What a great assortment of picks – the Karen Kane top looks cute in yellow, and of course you know I am eyeing the Suzi Chin dress, since it comes in petite. And the pendant! Love the pendant!

Ironic…. I almost bought that crinkle dress from Eddie Bauer this weekend, but they ran out of my size in the colors I was interested in. Oh well.

Well, wanna spend my whole clothing allowance now! Love everything single thing on this list – but they don’t all come in my size. However, these really give me ideas on what to look for in my size, because these certainly go with many other things in my closet. Great suggestions!

I have to say, I just love it when you link specific items like this. Last time you did, I ordered the Kenneth Jay Lane medallion necklace.

Today I ordered the Karen Kane cowl neck and the sleeveless Eddie Bauer dress. I love that the Eddie Bauer dress comes in tall sizes! That is usually my issue with dresses.

So now I have to come up with layering tops for these – I don’t do sleeveless! – but that will be fun.

Antje, I don’t think that the slouchy trouser is going to fade – AT ALL. It has only *just* begun to hit mainstream stores in a fringe way.

I love it when you pick things for us Angie! I carefully examined each item. I love the shimmery tunic and the pocket blouse, although I have no need for those items at the moment. Sigh. I am going to have to think about whether my 5’4″ frame could pull off those tapered cropped pants, it’s an interesting look.

I have the same question as lisalou — I avoid pleats and used to love this style when it was “in” in the 80s and I was thin, but now I think it will add too much to my middle/bottom.

I really enjoyed this list and couldn’t help but LOL, since I already own four of the items listed. The Born and Indigo shoes, Ann Taylor cropped pants and Loft blouse. I would also like to say, if you love the gladiator type sandals, but they are too flat for you, try the Born. I own them in metallic and they are SUPER comfy! Padded to the max and what is so cool; when you have them on, the padding is under your foot and not visible!

Thanks Angie! Well, I tried the Ann Taylor pants last nite, but they aren’t for me. I found them very unflattering around the belly/crotch area, I just felt really big and wide in them. I enjoy the style on others, and maybe I’ll try again with a different pair, but I might just have to forego this trend

Lisalou & Erin, I had a pear shaped client in those AT slouchy trousers earlier this week and she looked fabulous in them. It really depends on how you are pear shaped.

I was excited to see boat shoes on the list! I LOVE mine. And wearing them with denim shorts The soft blouse looks gorgeous too…I think it’d be so pretty tucked into skirts.

I’m traveling right now and stopped by the SF Zara yesterday. I totally agree that the colors are amazing right now!

I got the Indigo heels in the burnt orange. Now I’m struggling for inspiration what tops to wear with them. Pants are no issue…neutrals. But I’m struggling with what shirts. What colors would you wear on top to contrast with the burnt orange shoes?

I was headed to see U2 in Anaheim this weekend and planned to wear jeans that require a heel (for PPL). I knew there would be a fair amount of walking involved so I was thrilled to see the Indigo by Clarks Calabria. I snapped up the burnt orange in a heartbeat to ensure they got here in time for the concert.
These shoes are INCREDIBLE! The price is fab, the color is interesting but not overly bright and the comfort factor is beyond. I wore these for 8 hours, at least 5 of which involved standing or walking, and experienced not even the slightest discomfort. We basically sprinted through the parking lot in an attempt to beat the crowds and I had no problem keeping up with my boyfriend, even though the heel height on these is relatively high. They are incredibly well cushioned and sturdy.

Anyway, thanks Angie–these would never have been on my radar but they came along at the perfect time and I’m thrilled to have them in my closet.
