10 Fun Polka Dot Finds

This one’s for all the polka dot princesses. I’ve batted for Team Polka Dot since I was a child and it’s still my favourite pattern because of its magically graphic simplicity. I like a polka dot in black and white best, but colours have my heart too. Take a peek at the polka dot items below and be sure to click through all colour options.

  1. Banana Republic Polka Dot Cardigan: A fun way to kickstart your Spring wardrobe and great for pattern mixing.
  2. Commando ‘Big Dot’ Sheer Tights: These are worth the price because the waistband does not dig into your skin at all. Uber comfy.
  3. Full Circle Polka Dot Pussy Bow Shirt: If boxy blouses are your thing, check out this irregular spot.
  4. ASOS Blazer In Spot Jacquard: Here’s a different take on a Chanel inspired cropped jacket.
  5. ASOS Polka Dot Pleat Neck Tie: Sweet! I love blouses and shirts that are buttoned all the way to the top.
  6. Dotty Snake-Print Lil Ukita Shoulder Bag: This bag looks best worn as a cross-body and it almost came home with me.
  7. Seafolly Spot Boy Leg Swimsuit: Gloriously retro and feminine.
  8. Poetic Licence Charm School Pumps: Quite the arty, charming little shoe.
  9. Whistles Large Square Spot Dress: This is technically not a polka dot, but it’s fun all the same. We have to nab those sleeved dresses when we can.
  10. Marc by Marc Jacobs Hot Dot Scarf: A fun classic. You could wear this season after season and always look fab.

I have many polka dot items, from blouses and bags to scarves, umbrellas, and even an iphone case. I used to have a polka dress, but it tore at the sleeve and that was that. I’d love to add another one to my dress capsule. Do you have any polka dot items in your wardrobe?

10 Fun Polka Dot Finds

I’ll take one of each, please!-)

It’s no secret I love polka dots and stripes, I feel they never go out of style, and even if they did, I’d still keep wearing them.

I have a green with white polka dot scarf, then got a very similar one in light grey at the YLF meet-up in London this year (thank you again Jean and Fiona for talking me into it, not that I needed much persuading:-), I love my black button-down shirt with tiny white polka dots, my sheer hose with large dots (similar to the Commando ones above). I also have blue with large white polka dots dress in a retro silhouette and I definitely won’t hesitate to add more dots to my life!

(I love the irregular placement of the dots in the pussy bow blouse!)

I knew I was forgetting a few things. Also still loving a sleeveless black and white Mango blouse with a cute bow-tie…

So much here to love!

There is something retro yet contemporary and classic about polka dots! I love them.
I have two polka dot dresses (both black and white), and two blouses (one black and white, the other navy and white). I am always on the lookout for polka dot pieces, particularly lovely vintage items.

I don’t own a single polka dot item anymore, though I was smitten with Polka Dottie’s world in the Rootie Kazootie comics. While I don’t like the colorway, I do love the
tumbling squares in the Whistles dress – I love confetti prints!

One of each, please!
I love polka dots. I I have 3 dresses. 1 Summer sheath , 1 summer ruffled a-line and one long-sleeved fit-and-flare one. Also a much-loved black on white pencil skirt. Also a scarf. Also a halter neck top ( white on blue). I think I need to ad a blouse and perhaps a wooly scarf:)

The following polka dot items I have are: 2 dresses, 1 skirt, 1 scarf, 1 sweater, pair of heels (that need to get rid of but can’t).

Don’t have a single polka dot item, but so looking for a one in a skirt to pair with necklace that echos the dots

These things are so cute I could just pinch their little cheeks. At least one of these is making it’s way into my wardrobe. Spanx makes some cute more subtle polka dot tights now too.

The polka dot pumps are so delightful! Thanks for the tips, Angie.

i also have hose that is similar to the commando ones. i like the br cardigan!!

I have the pumps and love them!!!

I’m not even on Team Dot, and I’m eyeing that snake dot MJ bag with interest. Something about the texture under the pattern is so attractive! It’s a good thing I don’t need more bags at the moment…

Oooh, I want ALL OF THESE! (But most especially that handbag). Despite preferring polka dots to stripes, I somehow have far more striped items than polka dotted ones. This is clearly something I need to remedy soon.

I love polka dot, but then again is there a pattern i dont like, lol. Here is my latest polka dot item. My husband got them for me for Christmas, and they are so fun i cant stand it. Plus, at 46 years of age, they are my first pair of Doc’s! :) http://www.6pm.com/dr-martens-.....-dot-flock

Lovely set of items! Really like the cropped jacket, very tempting. And those pumps, oh my goodness, I’m swooning!! They would already be in my shopping bag or in the hands of UPS if they were not, sadly, out of stock in my size. What a cute find!

Theses are great! I love polka dots and have several pieces including (off the top of my head) a navy sleeveless blouse, a black scarf with small white dots, and a green scarf with big white dots.

My DH is looking over my shoulder and says about no. 3 (the Asos blouse), “no wonder it’s discounted — they didn’t print all the dots!” LOL

I love polka dots!

Hmm, I’m not sure why I’m having trouble posting my original comment but I’m going to try again and remove all the links.

Whoohoo! I bat for Team Polka Dot too! Ever since I bought that Kate Spade polka dot dress, I’ve been mad for dots!

Here are my dotty pieces:
Kate Spade Polka Dot Jillian–black fit and flare dress with white polka dots
Casual Couture polka dot top–black ruched V neck jersey top with white dots
Esther Williams red polka dot bikini
Tory Burch Erin Dress–Vintage-style shirtdress in navy with white hearts (almost looks like polka dots)–psst, Angie…it buttons all the way up…

Here’s another one I am looking at, but it may be too similar to my black polka dot top:
Slung Sash Tee
And the Connect Forty dress by Bailey 44 looks pretty cool too!

Hmm, I thought I had more than that, but I guess not! No polka dot accessories? Maybe that needs to be remedied, LOL! I love the tights and the shoes that you posted!

My favorite are the polka dot bag and scarf. I like polka dots, but I still prefer stripes first. I do have a scarf with polka dots in it, and a top with tiny polka dots on the print. I generally prefer my dot prints a tad smaller than most of the one’s featured here. But you can’t help but smile with polka dots, they have a whimsical quality to them.

Thanks to you, Angie, I regained an appreciation for poka dots :-) Great links and fun to see how varied polka dots can get!

This fall, I added an silk oversized shirt that is black with nude polka dots, a DVF polka leopard dress (how much better can it get than leopard polka dots!), and just picked up an Old Navy navy/white polka dot sweater that has me craving spring!!

Thanks for helping me see the fresh beauty in such a classic look!!

Last summer I had a brown sheath dress with large irregular white dots all over it. I bought it inspite of the dots, not because of them! It has been passed along now, and I am dot-less and don’t feel the need to remedy this. I must be on Team Stripes!

Wow, you are pulling me into the polka-dot world with your fab recommendations. I don’t think I’ve ever owned a polka-dot item. But I recently order a polka-dot top from Anthro. We’ll see how it goes!

but black with small white polka dots

You’ve put us in the wonderful world of Planet Polka Dot and I’d love to nab a polka dot shirt like one I gave away many years ago and still miss! It was a deep yellow with cream polka dot button-down shirt, so your list is helping me to put this on my wish list!

I currently have a short-sleeve cream with black polka dot tee for casual use and I also have a pair of navy polka dot nylons, very similar to the Commando tights. I’ve yet to wear them and have been considering wearing them with my Halogen pencil skirt. I love the pumps, BR cardigan and MK handbag. Wow, wow and wow!!!

I love the BR cardigan and the bag! Thanks Angie!

I was not a fan but this year i’m loving polka dots!! Great finds!

I seriously love the Full Circle blouse from ASOS – so much fun! Polka dot pattern attracts me but I don’t have many items in my closet yet: a flower pin, mini polka dot hose – that’s it. I would like to add more but have not found them yet…

I love the BR cardigan and the Marc Jacobs scarf in this post. I have only 1 item in polka dot so far, but am being slowly drawn to them in stores. I regret not purchasing a similar (yet much less pricey) scarf from Talbot’s and they are sold out.

I, too, love the BR cardigan and the Marc Jacobs scarf. I have a few PD items… a navy with white dots Chaps blouse, a few scarves: a med black dot on white; a small black dot on white; a grey dot on lime green scarf; a multi-coloured dot on white; and the cute Aldo cross-body bag Angie mentioned in another post. Oh, and a black dot on white INC pencil skirt. Tommy Hilfiger had a very cute PD cardigan this fall that I strongly thought about. The BR one might be even better.

What fun items. I have a few polka dot items and I love them because of their fun and versatality. I like bright colors and find that black and white polka dots work well with bright colors. I’m having trouble going to some of the links, maybe too much traffic on these sites on boxing day?

Great post, Angie! I am always on the lookout for polkadots. I have a gray and white polkadot scarf and a black and white wrap top from Ann Taylor. Oh, almost forgot, two polkadot umbrellas which never fail to lift my spirits on a rainy day!

the cutest Zappos black and white polka dot swim suit I wore all last summer. So flattering!

The navy with white polka dot swimsuits are as cute as they can be. Something about the more formal dots being on a fun swimsuit seems to relax the formality of the dots. I see that your examples though are not so formal looking as I have always thought of polka dots. When I think of them I think only of navy blue with white dots on a dress or blouse, ala something my mother would have raved about. You’ve certainly shown me how much more fun dots can be! I do like the formal navy and white but don’t have a need for it in my lifestyle. I’d go for fun uneven patterned dots in a low contrast! Thanks Angie, you just helped me figure out my perfect polka dot dream.

Fun picks! I would like that scarf. :-) I would also love that swimsuit if the leg were higher cut — that is unfortunately the most unflattering leg on my body type.

I have two polka dot dresses (black with white and black with cobalt blue), 1 short sleeve blouse (teal with white), 1 long sleeve blouse (blue with tiny random dots), and a black and gray dotted tee. I enjoy prints, especially graphic ones, so dots definitely find their way into my wardrobe.

I love polka dots and I love Angie lists! You always find the coolest pieces. I am eyeing the BR cardigan and the beautiful polka dot scarf. Yummy!

I received money for Christmas from my Meme (hubby’s grandmother) and now I have ideas on where to spend it! Thanks for sharing these fantastic finds!

Thanks for sharing your polka dot pieces with us, ladies. I’m glad that you spotted a few fun goodies on this list :)

Love polka dots! I love that they are a trend right now thus making them easy to find at all price points while still in my mind being a classic print that never really goes out of style.

Lets see i have…a polka dot collared shirt, polka dot dress, polka dot wire headband and i just ordered a polka dot cardigan! :)

The bag and scarf are pretty amazing. I own a few polka dot items- my favorite right now is a wide belt to wear with dresses!

I am truly smitten with the black tone on tone polk-dot cropped jacket by ASOS. Like stripes, I think the bold, high contrast of black/white polka-dots require the woman wearing them to have a bolder, more striking appearance or you will see these dots coming at you, instead of the woman! I do love the option of the tone on tone (and also think vintagey dotted swiss!) for those of us who maybe can’t pull off high contrast but appreciate how polka dots look both vintage and modern! I would totally wear the jacket for spring with cropped jeans or my favorite slouchy boy jeans OR out at night with my black sateen ankle length pants and a feminine flat! SO CUTE!

Check out this top that comes in both polka dots and stripes.

My problem, lately, has been determining what my best colors are, and which ones to add. So, when I see something like this, with choices, or those shown above, I never know which way to go.
