Newsflash: Low heels to trend for 2010

Woohooo!!! Three cheers and hallelujah — one of my fashion prayers has been answered. I never thought I’d see the day, but it’s right there in black and white in Vogue’s Accessory Guide for Spring 2010. Move over sky high stilettos and platform wedges, you’ve got low heel competition. KILLER.

I’m giddy with excitement at the prospect of seeing a flood of one to two and half inch heeled shoes in stores. No flood yet, but I’m hopeful that Jeffery Campbell and Donald Pliner’s Spring collections are the start of good things to come.

Newsflash: Low heels to trend for 2010

Ditto, Angie !! I have back problems, so I am THRILLED.

Thanks for the update.

Yeah!

YAY! *Very* exciting.

I’m thrilled! I love a good high heel for dressing up, but for every day, mom-on-the-go, I’d love more choices in a low heel. I really like the middle style you show. Thanks for the good news Angie!

I’m impressed! I’d never heard of this brand before, but I see lots of styles at 2.5″ I’d love to wear. I’m often underwhelmed by low-heel looks, but these are great.

Hallelujah. Fashion hope for troubled feet, ankles, and backs.

Woo hoo!!!! We’re golden!

Yes, yes, yes! I couldn’t have heard better fashion news.

Can I get a witness?? Amen! I may not even wait for sales, my knees are making me do it now! thanks so much for telling us – we have the perfect spy, yeah!

The fashion gods are smiling down on Angie and YLF this season!

If this turns out to be true, I’m going to buy as many pairs as I can afford.

If this ends up being true, I will sacrifice buying anything else stock up on shoes.

Although the shoes they featured in the photographs are horrendous, especially those bizarre cap-toe-flip-flop-platform hybrids. If that ends up in stores, I’ll be disappointed.

Definitely getting a 90′s vibe overall though.

sensible heel height AND stylish? what a concept ;-) why did no one think of this before?????

Woot! 2 inch heels for the win!!

Oh yeah! No more trying to keep my from crawling….ahaha!

*uh, delete the ‘my’

Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woo-hoo! Although, it kind of saddens me that 2½” heels are considered low. LOL. But mostly? I think it’s about time!

Yes! Yes! Yes! What a day brightener!

BEST! NEWS! EVER!!! :) See you on cloud nine, Angie! :)

Great news!! Can’t wait to read the article in more depth. Thanks for sharing this one!

OK!!!! I am all over the first pair on the left…the nude ankle strap sandle:)

sandal…:)

Ahhhh. Imagine a world… in which women can walk without pain : )

I’ve read quite a bit about “return of the kitten heel” and not sure how I feel about it, though, since they are lower (yay!) but thin tend not to be especially stable.

Oh thank god. I’m going to stock up on the best I can afford in case the sky-high trend returns later on.

It a NAY from me for the kitten heels which I have found to be just as uncomfortable and unstable as stilettos but it’s a huge YAAAAY for low heels in general.

Did you know this trend has been met by a lot of the British fashion press with a ‘why bother, whats the point’ attitude. What are they thinking?

i’ve seen the same heel on many shoes over here in Switzerland….of course the sky high heels are everywhere EXCEPT the street….i can only wear mine to parties and “safe”places with good flooring. i live in an ancient town….

i love the chunkier or thicker heel, too! so many cobble stone roads in St. Gallen.

sooooo cool!

I find kitten heels uncomfortable too. To follow up on Roseandjoan’s point, as well as the “why bother” attitude there have also been a number of articles about the number of fashionable women shopping for lower heeled shoes in Clarks and whether designers need to pick up on the hint that women want fashionable, low heeled shoes, especially in commuter cities like London where most women have to walk at least part of the way to work.

Yay! I could never do the high heel thing! They always hurt my feet and I end up never wearing them. But I love wedges, platforms, and chunky heels! I have several Donald J Pliner wedges which I live in! They give me the height I want with the stability I need.

This is the joy of not being a kid anymore…..if you wait long enough you become fashionable again!! I never left the flats, never went with the big bags, and wore tie dye the first time round…..except I didn’t pay high prices, just did it myself. Thanks for letting me know I am right on again!

Oh, and kitten heels have been my dress up shoe for years. You do have to get the right height – if they are too high they are impossible, but I have a lower heeled version that I can wear for hours and they don’t hurt my feet. Thanks for letting me know I am with it!!!! You have made my day!

*excited squealing* Fashionable shoes with a heel i can actually walk in woo hoo x

Fabulous news! Although I’ll certainly be partaking of those giant wedge platforms, too. ;)

Woohoo!! This might be the season to stock up on fab low heeled shoes. LOVE the first two pairs.

AMEN!!! Walking and buying pants are about to get easier. How many years has the fashion industry tortured us with insane heel heights and deprived us of reasonable heel heights? Seems like at least 3-4 years now. Thank you for this great news!!!

A good fashion season is one which offers choice so as long as there are heel heights for everyone’s taste, I’ll be pleased.

Low heels do not need to be kitten heels. I prefer a low retro stacked heel myself, as opposed to a skinny heel. I hope we see it all this season!

Comfortable shoes are nice, but I have to say I love high heels. And I live in New York. I find ones that are wearable (read: platforms), and I do wear a lot of lower wedges when it comes to boots but heels will always be my #1 choice, because nothing makes you feel sexier or more fashionable. Of course, I’ve been wearing high heels for years, so when I wear flats anywhere but the gym, I feel odd.

All that being said, I do hope we see some new, stylish low heels. I wouldn’t mind adding a few to my wardrobe :)

My feet are rejoicing at this news! I love the look of a heel, but my feet cannot take much beyond 2.5 inches. There are lower heels that look great. Glad
Vogue agrees.

Hooray! This is such amazing news! I can’t wait, my feet will be so happy! And I love those grey sandals pictured in the blog.

I have seen more low heeled shoes at Target than usual which is encouraging. There are 3 pairs of kitten heeled Mossimo shoes that I am going to get for work. Very happy.

I just got back from Macy’s and found LOADS of low heels in action! It was so encouraging. Low wedge heels seemed to be the most popular, but there were some kitten heels and chunky styles as well. I was thrilled.
