Delurking a bit because I couldn't stand keeping quiet after seing so much fabness. KILLER LOOKS EVERYONE.
I will also copycat the existing copycatters and mark this one as a favourite and a fashion resource for next year.
I will try to do this exercise with my outfits also.

It was too hard to choose favorites. Here are a bunch. Some of them were controversial here on YLF but I still loved them so they are posted here. The top outfit of the year award goes to #9, which includes my favorite purchase of the year, the fever pink halogen skirt.

What a fun thread, Angie! I was actually thinking about posting something like this in early January, and I'm glad that you started it so that we all could join in and see each other's favorites.

I also had a hard time narrowing things down, so I picked some outfits that track some of my favorite looks in different permutations:

#1: The early signs of my adoption of glam-70's-inspired attire. (Black ponte knit skinnies, black bell-sleeved knit tunic with metallic beading at the shoulders, black and white bold graphic printed light wool scarf in an Angie knot, silver skinny belt, silver skinny ballet flats.)
#2-5: Ladylike, colorful, and layered looks in the summer. (White denim walking shorts, colorful watercolor-printed silk shell with neck tie, purple 3/4 sleeve cardi, yellow lace up pumps; yellow pencil skirt, blue and white polka dotted tee, white knotted pearls, red patent pumps, red patent belt, white blazer; magenta pencil skirt, black wide belt, leopard print pussycat bow blouse, black Mary Janes - this outfit was a favorite because B. LOVED it!. Chocolate brown and turquoise ikat printed A-line dress, teal ruffled cardigan, turquoise and white polka dotted silk scarf, yellow lace up pumps. These collection of outfits made me feel utterly feminine and confident.
#6-7: Now totally digging the 70s, an outfit featuring both my Gap Long & Lean bootcuts and the mustard Kate Spade handbag. With bronze booties, brown braided belt, teal silk blouse tucked in, colorful millefiori pendant necklace; with blue floral blouse, chambray buttoned-down waistcoat, white blazer, and yellow lace-up pumps.
8-11: My favorite outfits that featured my favorite dresses of the year: Leopard pussycat bow chiffon dress, Bailey 44 purple asymmetrical striped midi, dark floral knit midi from Cassis bought on my Toronto trip, black polka-dot dress with ruffles over a black long-sleeved turtleneck; Nine West "scribble print" dress.

If you'd told me last January that by December, I would be embracing 70s fashion to the point of wearing a midi dress with a faux-fur vest, I probably would have laughed so hard that my stomach hurt. My eye has totally adapted!

All these looks are simply wonderful! I have to come back to this thread when I have a bit more time and read all the descriptions.

Here are some of my favourites. It was hard to decide, but there's one notable characteristic: they were all taken after I got my new specs. My new frames were definitely the most important style change in 2011!

#1 One of my everyday skirts with my boots, some fun tights and a fab scarf. I simply love this type of outfit and I really like the colours and subtle pattern mixing in this one.

#2 My flowery black dress. I became a veteran when I wore that outfit and it was once a dress of my mum. I always feel connected to her when I wear it.

#3 My perfect new dress. I simply love it. I felt great in this outfit. I thought about posting this outfit shown here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....underlayer, but I didn't find the picture anymore.

#4 Because I just love the look with my coat. I wore this coat with my favourite bag to Uni all through September and October and felt great.

#5 Because I love my new well fitting jeans and that was the first time ever I wore a tucked in top with jeans in public. I didn't feel as self-conscious as I thought I would. It was pearfect!

#6 I wore the culottes a lot since Angie posted about them and it was a coincidence I found those in the old clothes of my mum. I love the colours in this one and how tiny my waist looks!

My style really changed a lot this past here and all for the better! I'm so glad I found YLF.

I'm at Philly right now so can't post photos since I don't have laptop although I did put a few pics up on my blog. I will add a few of my favorites tomorrow night.

Oh, I love this thread! I am bookmarking this to pore over--LOVE seeing everyone's style and what a wealth of inspiration!

Sorry for so many pictures--it's too hard for me to narrow down any further than this! Here are my top favorite outfits. I felt fab in all of them. #1 is my absolute favorite because it is the essence of my style persona--Demure Bombshell. #2 is another favorite because I took a risk and went in a new direction (trying to RATE Kate Spade). Everyone raved about it and was a K2K rating from Angie! #3 was a sweaterdress and obi belt and I felt KILLER in this! The rest of these are all my favorite examples of my newfound style. I am so lucky to have discovered YLF this year and it's great to be able to look back at how far I've come in the last six months since I joined. Here's to another fab and stylish year together in 2012!

ETA--why I liked these outfits:
1-pure GP! My signature outfit
2-rock n roll!
3-I felt like I could kick @$$ in this outfit!
4-I was searching for a DVF wrap unsuccessfully and rediscovered this old BR wrap dress in my closet that looked even better!
5-my Anthro outfit made up completely of non-Anthro clothes, including my new favorite skirt and my favorite shoes--my Chie Mihara heeled sandals
6-red corset trench and leopard heels!
7-stylish MOTG
8-fell in love with ponchos and this is my favorite autumn color
9-rust and peacock--another fun MOTG look
10-another risk taking outfit--wool short shorts and rust tights
11-going on safari
12-another typical demure bombshell look
13-I am loving midi skirts, and my coworker said "You look like you stepped out of Vogue"
14-Kate Spade polka dot dress--my first designer purchase
15-raspberry lemon chocolate--my favorite ALGO look
16-double animal print and leather--I never would have thought I would wear something like this six months ago!
17-plum and cognac--some of my favorite colors on me right now
18-my favorite cream puffer, teal sweater and patterned pencil skirt

I think I would pick 2011 as the year for tunics and pussy bows on me..so here are a couple.

Here are some of my faves from the year. A few things I realized while searching my pics were...

#1- I have a very functional closet. I can't think of a single event that might come up that I would not be able to dress for (except maybe the inaugural ball or oscars
#2- While I enjoy adding fun elements, some of my favorite outfits were quite simple.
#3- I really like to wear dresses

MaryK, you have KILLER style, and your outfits bring us all joy no matter what. You are a YLF ray of sunshine with lots of cheeky sass thrown into the mix. If I had to pick a favourite from your selection it would have to be #2 because we bought that jacket together AND I dreamt about you in that ladylike yet edgy outfit. #1 is next because it epitomizes your fearlessness with colour, pattern and texture!

Rita, a spectacular set of KILLER outfits that reflect how happy, bubbly and grounded you are on the inside. You are amazing!!! My faves from your selection are: #4 because it's just so simple and a million percent perfect. #12 because you overcame your belt fear and rock an obi belt like no other. #11 because it's on trend and edgy. #14 because those are the most brilliant nude boots in the world. #18 because you fill out a dress with the best of them!

Kari, you win the '70s trend award of the year! You were most apprehensive to start off with, but I never had my doubts You embraced those trends like a duck to water and I am very proud of you. All these outfits are KILLER! So cheerful, flattering and fun. My faves from your selection are #1 because you embraced black for the first time and wore it to perfection. #9 because you look like a movie star. #3 because it's a typical Kari-look! The outfit that is missing that was my all time 2011 Kari-style fave is the pattern mixed green dress with black & white scarf. Do pop that in too!

Astrid, you have the best and most contagious smile! You rocked these KILLER outfits and I love them all! It's just impossible to pick a fave because they all show verve and a sense of sincerity. I guess #2 and #3 make me smile the most because they are full of attitude! But embracing your tucked in jeans look in #5 is also very meaningful. And I am so stealing those cullotes!

Natalie, simply splendid! You have created a very pretty, colourful and interesting look with many KILLER combinations. Of your selection #1, #2 and #5 win hands down. Sassy, on-trend and very flattering. Love! I also adore the simple elegance of #4 and the attitude of #17!

Sona, just gorgeous! I LOVE #1 and #2, both of which are rocking KILLER. The first is on trend, but #2 takes the cake for your best outfit of the year. Those earrings are amazing and the layering just so spot on!

Kim, you are one heck of a stylish Mum on the Go. You *always* look pretty, fashionable, charming and attractive with plenty of KILLER outfits up your fashion sleeves. Of your selection, I'm going with the following faves: #1 because it's just so "Kim". #4 because it's sassy-deluxe. #5 because you rock a midi and look edgy. And #9 because that outfit is as happy as your smiley persona!

Let me know if I've missed you out. I don't mean to - this has been a marathon exercise. Phew! But VERY worthwhile

WOW!!! I cannot begin to reply to all the beautiful, fashionable outfits posted here, I will be looking them over slowly one by one with a cup of tea.
Great thread.

Here are some of mine:

This is fun! Everyone has GREAT outfits, I'm really enjoying browsing through. Here are a few of mine. 2011 started out with a major change, going from shoulder blade length curls to a bob. I creeped even shorter throughout the year. I've really been having fun with it! I've started to hone in on my style preferences although I still have some things to figure out. This was a big year for me in other ways too.

#1- To see Wicked with my mom in February
#2- My Chanel inspired outfit
#3- Casual summer work outfit with even shorter hair
#4- First day of grad school!
#5- My interview outfit (I got the promotion, whoo hoo!).

I'm having a hard time choosing favorites... Here are a few. (Apologies for posting links rather than photos - I am on vacation with only my iPad and do not have access to my photo library.)

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-in-review
Picture Perfect week was super fun, and I really enjoyed the creative challenge. Thanks Bella! My fave is #3, the cowboy outfit. The Anthro apothecary skirt is a favorite purchase of 2011.

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....g-handknit
A signature outfit featuring the somewhat unexpected combo of red and green, which I'm really loving these days.

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-handknits
This outfit features my favorite teal hues and some hand knits, and was really fun.

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....trical-top
Newest version of a signature outfit. I like the asymmetrical top with this.

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....nd-stripes
Advanced pattern mixing with stripes. Fun!

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ay-parties
My pick for favorite dress-up outfit goes to the last of these three holiday party outfits, because I like how I was able to take a simple LBD and make it very "me" with accessories. Plus, hooray for animal print accessories!

I had a lot. But here are some ones that I remember.
#1 worn to the Seattle swap.
#2 First attempt at color blocking.
#3 the sandal boots
#4 more color blocking
#5 ruched leggings
#6 Walking on the wild side.
#7 The poncho of awesomeness.
#8 Angie asked me to post my very last outfit of the year, my NYE's party outfit. I got a Killer to the power of Killer, first ever.

Wow, what a great thread. I will be bookmarking and looking through each one. So fantastic! I have a feeling I will be copying where I can! Here are a few of my favorites. I think for me, my favs are also where I was somewhat out of my comfort zone.

Jean, you have KILLER style. I love the way you added pastels and an ethereal touch to your arty outfits this year. All your faves are my faves too! *Impossible* to pick the best because they all scream uber stylish Jean from the rooftops in the loudest and best possible way!

Kristine, nice to see you post too! Outfits #1 and #2 are KILLER and my faves from your selection. Modern, ladylike and perfectly classic. An excellent formula for your style, Definitely wear more blue in 2012

Diana, your unique arty style always makes me smile. Your outfits shine in happy textural and colourful casual glory from top to toe! Of your selection, your most recent party outfits (the last batch) take the cake and are absolutely KILLER. Next in line are #2 and #3 because they are your signature colours and accentuate your gorgeous curves

Anna, your KILLER edgy outfits always cause a delightful stir! You push the trend envelope above and beyond us all! It's a pleasure to see you have fun with your daring looks which you pull off with panache! Of your selection, I like the simpler silhouettes best because they make *you* shine. So I'm going with #1 and #6. #2 is next because they are my colours and you're wearing flats! You've left out your Burberry newsboy hat which you rock like nobody's busness. My best! Also, what you wore on your b-day - brown leather pants with sequin top - is one of fave Anna outfits ever!

MorethanBeige-Laura, you are sensational in these outfits! You always look polished, pulled together and fashionable. All k-word worthy looks for sure! #1 takes the cake because those boots are too KILLER for words. I *loved* you in your white jeans and blazer too, and those items are amongst my favourite of your outfits this year.

What a great thread! I know what I'll be doing New's Year Day - sitting down with a cup of tea and looking through each and every picture!

Looking back at my photos from 2011, I am seeing several fashion firsts.

#1: Last January: My first pair of Gap jeggings, bought with the help of YLF forum member Beth.

#2: March found me celebrating my 56th birthday in NYC!

#3: Going into summer with a blue and white striped skirt. I also wore this unbelted for a boxier silhouette.

#4: Finally! I found the perfect white jeans, worn with the Joie peacock blue silk top and geometric necklace from NAS ( Angie picks).

#5: Early fall found me embracing skinny jeans! Here's my take on Angie's Chanel-on-the-Go forumla.

#6 -7: In addition to skinny jeans, I jumped on the PB top bandwagon.

#8 -9: The fall also found the much loved yellow raisin skirt from NAS going into rotation.

#10: My year would not be complete without at least one sheath dress photo.

Happy New Year's to all my YLF friends! I can't wait to see what 2012 brings!

I was waiting for Queen Tub Balancer to chime in :). Debs! You are Modern Classic Glory. Your KILLER looks are so perfect for you I can't stand it. I love the way you injected a little on trend edge to your outfits this year because it suits your persona to a tee. I bet your beautiful daughter loves this side of Mum's style too :). Of your selection, my faves are the following: #4 because it's clean, crisp and strong. #5 because Ines wishes that she looked this good! #8 because the high colour contrast is so very effective. #6 because it's mega trendy. Rock on you stylish creature!!

Angie- thanks so much for your compliments and sharing your faves of my pics with me. That was really sweet!

I don't have time to comment on everyones selections, but have enjoyed going through them and will definitely be bookmarking for future reference!

Here are mine:

1 -- From June, sporting my jeans and blazer formula.
2 -- From October, I love surrendering my waist!
3 -- From November, mixing Boho with clean minimal lines.
4 -- I had to add one picture with a midi pencil skirt as I love this silhouette.
5 -- My YLF birthday picture, a look stolen from Cate Blanchett.

I loved looking at everyone's "Best Of" collections!

Thanks for this fun thread, Angie!!! What an inspiring group of ladies!!!

Do go back and read my comment about your outfits!

My pleasure, Kim and Ali

Yay, Denise! You have KILLER style. Your look is distinctive and just amazingly stylish. Your faves are my faves too! #1 and #5 launched me into orbit and I am still recovering from the high :). #2 is a typical Denise-vibe and #4 was very much out of your comfort zone. Sublime.

Angie, thanks so much for your compliments and insights. Are these the pieces you are speaking about?

Angie, I have been looking back at pictures since January and I have made so much progress. Thank you for spending so much time holding our hands and helping us improve our style. -- Denise

Here are my favourites

I have definitely shuffled more towards the midi look in #7 in the last months; although I love tie-front tops (#5) and my bicycle cardigan is probably down to cents per wear now (#6).

I love the fit-and flare stylings of #3/6; and I'm usually pretty shy to go any shorter than #2.

Pippa has mad wearing blue blazers awesome (#2); and my black moto jacket was definitely a great purchase (#4/7).

AND I love the dress in #1, which is stupid because it's made of a tablecloth from the dollarstore!

... Thanks Angie for a very stylin' year! <3

Love ya all,
Lyn

Yes, MorethanBeige-Laura! I love those KILLER outfits

Denise, thanks for chiming back in. The pleasure is all mine.

Lyn, you are Queen Adorable Style. Your outfit musings are always entertaining! And one day you will wear trousers :). Of your selections, I love #4 best. It's rocking KILLER and my favourite Lyn-outfit for sure. Love you in that midi too!

Wow, everyone's outfits look so good, I'm kind of intimidated. I found this harder to do than I thought I would. Some of these may not be great outfits, but they incorporate favorite pieces.

#1 - I love this dress and liked the blue tights with it.
#2 - I love these boots but have a hard time styling them.
#3 - Love this shirt and scarf combo
#4 - I don't wear a lot of belts but I was really happy with this combo.
#5 - I wore this to a backyard BBQ and thought it was fun and stylish
#6 - I loved the stripes and orange sweater together
#7 - This is very indicative of my weekend style which I'm very happy has gotten less frumpy since YLF.

All pretty ladies put your hands up in the air................

....which would be each and every YLF'er.

Thank you Angie for a year of reminiscing and boosting our confidence in your unforgettable style.

It's been fun to see everyone's amazing outfits from this year. I need to take more photos in 2012. Here are a few favorites for which I have photos available:

1. Dress you voted that I can fall back on if shortened to wear to son's wedding if a better one isn't found.
2. A favorite summer outfit with Sweet Pea top and golden raisin pencil skirt.
3. A new sheath dress.
4. Polkadots for a reunion. I wore the red shoes.
5. A favorite outfit this fall featuring a treasured jacket from Sandy
6. Casual with furry vest for fun
7. From this year's NAS sale. I've worn this jacket with everything.
8. Another piece I'm loving both with and without the furry collar.
the last two are from this post and i don't know how to make them bigger here:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-keep-this

Thanks for chiming back in Sona, with such lovely gratitude. My pleasure

Sara L, your hair looks so pretty in a bun! #1 is my fave of your style year. It's rocking KILLER and do wear blue more often. I also love #2 and the colours in #6 are divine! I look forward to seeing more of your fab ensembles next year!

Oh, Joy! You have KILLER style and the very best bob in the world. Your outfits make me smile to the 9th degree. Wow!!! I cannot pick a favourite! All scream style, verve and sass in the most remarkable way. Rock on, sister.

I clearly need to take more photos! But here are a few that I felt pretty good about. I look forward to more pictures with my awesome new high-rise jeans and new Docs!

I actually plan to wear the dogs with the suit in my last photo. Thoughts on legwear? The Docs are cognac color, more or less. I'm thinking something dark but.... ??

Too many fantastic outfits for me to comment upon. Suffice it to say that I'm going to mark this thread as a favorite so that I may refer back to it for inspiration!
