Two Fab Finds

Here are two items that caught my eye recently. Both are pretty versatile and pack a little extra punch.

Dolman cable braid turtleneck: I am a proud owner of this pullover in ivory. I am seriously thinking about getting the ink blue version too because it does not itch, is oversized in just the right way, and I love the high neckline.
Vince Camuto Tipper Boot: A maximal bootie style with no shortage of statement buckles. You might need to size up half a size.

Add a pair of jeans or tapered trousers and wool coat to the mix and you’ll be cozy, covered, comfy and on trend.

Zara has this boot in black suede for less, which I almost purchased. This would be something different for me, so I need style suggestions from the one and only Angie.

I’m seriously thinking of the pullover in the grey – love that they have sweaters in petite sizes!

If I needed black booties, I would be looking at those.

I’m seriously considering the sweater also! Probably in grey but maybe the ink. (I already have a soft and slightly slouchy ink turtleneck, which is my only hesitation, except that it is a fine knit, so quite different in mood.)

Love those booties, too!

Do you think they fit smaller than other Vince Camuto shoes, Angie?

I think they fit just the same, Suz. Perhaps a little snugger in the toe box because of the pointy shape.

The sweater is lovely and I think this could be something I could wear. It looks like a bulky sweater but on closer look I don’t think it actually adds that much bulk…it certainly looks gorgeous on you Angie. Price is incredibly reasonable and I like all three colors… Hmmm.

Not long ago, I had a similar looking pair of booties that were DV Dolce Vita for Target.
I wore them out they were so comfortable. But the gold buckles were too maximal for me and I covered them with a thin coat of black nail polish, so that they had a glinting burnished look. That did the trick for me.

I like both of these items a lot. You fabulous in the sweater and I looked at it yesterday in the mall. I decided that the cream is not flattering to me and it would be best to leave it behind or it would become a goodwill donation. I only saw the cream in the store. I will look online for other colors.

I liked the boots too, but I am not thrilled with the graininess of the leather. I left them behind too.

Vildy, that’s a great idea. I love those VC booties and think after a mini purge I can find room in my life for a pair of metal-accented booties, but I’m not a gold person. Silver or gunmetal is much more my style. What a clever solution to toning down a bright metal finish!

Vildy, were you able to create a professional finish on those buckles with black nail polish? I like the idea but worry that things look “homemade” so to speak.

I don’t know how to answer your question, Angie, about a professional finish.
I wasn’t going after that and I got exactly the look I wanted. Got a lot of compliments on them, too, from strangers. Probably people who were more RATE.

Hello sweater twin! I loved this cable turtleneck when I saw it on you and the high funnel neck was a huge selling point for me. I also liked this sweater for its length, as I have a cotton fisherman’s sweater, which is cropped and not always the look I want to achieve.

I bought it in XS Cream and it took two visits to decide. At first I thought the wool was bothering me, but on the second visit, I did have a long-sleeved tee on, and it felt fine and different from my first visit. I didn’t even know the sweater came in navy. An online reviewer said the navy “is somewhat faded, not a rich color.” Did you find that to be true, because the website photo shows a really pretty indigo color.

I love the Indigo, but you seem to be saying it’s not a very rich color in person, Angie? I tend to like a true navy. But very cute. And you sold me with the “not itchy” part!
