I’ve been shopping with clients for transitional pieces and wanted to share some of the items we found. Many of them work extremely well for a very curvy figure. Be sure to take a look at all the colour options.
- Banana Republic Textured Blue Cocoon Coat: A lightweight and very trendy topper. It is supposed to look oversized. It will broaden the shoulder line so consider yourself warned.
- White House Black Market Cap Sleeve Horseshoe V-Neck Top: A LINED jersey knit V-neck top that's great under a jacket. Fab on a larger bust.
- White House Black Market Sleeveless Seamed Printed Shell Top: A LINED jersey knit top that's very formfitting, but does not cling. Great under a fitted jacket.
- White House Black Market 3/4 Sleeve Blue Leather Jacket: Ruffles look fresh. This jacket is extremely good on a curvy hourglass who is petite or regular height. Not good on tall galls.
- White House Black Market Long Sleeve Blue Suit Jacket: Gathered sleeve crowns look fresh. An excellent formfitting style on an hourglass who is not tall.
- White House Black Market Novelty Perfect Form Black Jacket: If you're after a very structured lightweight jacket, give this one a go. It's as fitted left unzipped. Stretchy and comfortable. Showcases your curves, and works well on a defined waist.
- Michael Skinny-Leg Zip-Pocket Pants: I was surprised at how well these fit on a curvy bottom half with no need for waist adjustment. The gold zippers are divine, so do wear the pants with a partially tucked roomy top to showcase the detailing. Size up one size.
- Talbots Watercolor Floral Sweater: A Spring floral sweater that works on straight and curvy body types. Lightweight and very soft.
- NYDJ 'Clarissa' Colored Stretch Ankle Skinny Jeans (Regular & Petite): A great pair of cropped skinnies for the curvy figure. It's amazing how well the waist fits a relatively small waist and larger hip and thigh area. The high rise is fashionable, and not uncomfortable at all. Roll the hems for extra structure. Might need to size down a size.
- NYDJ 'Clarissa' Colored Stretch Ankle Skinny Jeans (Regular & Petite): Cropped skinnies are fashionable, and these come in many colours. An excellent style for curvy hourglass and pear shapes. The high rise is fashionable, and not uncomfortable at all. Roll the hems for extra structure. Might need to size down a size.
- Two by Vince Camuto 'Broken Forms' Print Mixed Media Tee: A geometric blouse with a flattering diagonal sleeve. Good on a larger bust and apple shaped body type.
- Loft Jacquard Short Sleeve Sweatshirt: Hello '80s. This top looks better unlayered and worn on its own. Cropped, boxy and fun. Super soft and very comfy. If the neckline were higher, this would be mine.
- Gallery Belted Wrap Raincoat: Structured, weatherproof, bright, dressy and runs a size large.
- Vince Camuto Drape Front Mixed Media Top (Regular & Petite): A drape front blouse with a different style of drape. Excellent for apple shaped bodies. The asymmetrical hem adds structure to the style.
- Zara Ombre Leather Clutch: A fun ombré sage green clutch that is roomy and soft to the touch.
- Jeffrey Campbell 'Serlin' Studded Laser Cut Suede Loafer (Women): A statement cut-out loafer with a unique heel that is quite comfortable. It's also available in white in brick-and-mortar stores.
- Urban Outfitters Jeffrey Campbell Muskrat Cutout Boot: Well-made and comfortable cut-out booties. Great colour, and ever so slightly lilac. The tops are wired so that they fold down for extra interest.
- Banana Republic Coated Denim Jacket: The ink blue jacket is a little darker in person and quite fabulous. I love that it is feminine yet quite hard edge which I attribute to its tailored fit. It does not feel rubbery, nor is it distressed. Unique.
- Carol Cross Body Clutch: A little fringe for Boho Chic lovers. Purchase the black for a more subtle Boho Chic vibe.
- Zara Mini City Bag: Sleek, crisp, small and inexpensive.
- Trotters 'Signature Alana' Pointy Toe Bootie (Women): A very comfortable dressy bootie for low volume feet. A manageable heel height and super soft leather. Excellent for small ankles. Runs half a size big. All colours are fab. Elegant and refined.
- Banana Republic Boxy Zip Blazer: A boxy collarless moto in a nubby wool. Very good on apple shapes with a shorter neck and larger bust. Good on a broad shoulder line and short neck too. Not great on a curvy shape with a long neck. Gorgeous paired with white.
It’s refreshing to see newly stocked structured tops and jackets alongside fluid and oversized styles. That way you can go with whichever fit tickles your fancy. I’m thrilled to see the variety.
