Olive is an earthy shade of green that functions as a staple colour for some of my clients. Some olives are dark and very green, whereas others are lighter and browner. Take your pick. There’s a lot of olive around at the moment, which makes my olive-loving clients and friends happy. Some of the styles are on sale.

- Zara Wool Cape: A capelet or structured poncho is an excellent topper for oversized knitwear. It's not all that insulating, but a good idea for milder Fall weather. Or just enough warmth over a thick sweater.

- Donald J Pliner 'Danti' Boot (Women): A rugged bootie with a tailored fit and refined integrity is a tall order, but these fit the bill. Their higher shaft is a good pairing with cropped pants. The olive sheen on the gold is unique. Fits a regular or lower volume foot and narrow ankle. Easy side-entry zipper detailing is extra practical.
- MATISSE Coconuts by Matisse 'Lee' Bootie (Women): Super soft and comfy. Feels like a slipper, and in a greener shade of olive.
- Corso Como 'Carmina' Pointy Toe Leather Pump (Women): An olive pump is a unique piece, especially with a strap which keeps the shoe on your foot. Soft and comfortable.
- Rag & Bone Textured Buckle Belt: An olive belt is lovely matched with all sorts of brown footwear.

Olive tends to look good on those with “Autumn” complexions, to use an old style term that will make sense if you’ve had your colours done by a specialist. It often looks good on those with green eyes. I do have dark green eyes, but don’t have any olive in my wardrobe. I quite like darker shades, but the colour doesn’t make me happy. So for now, I’ll stick to eating olives instead of adding the colour to my wardrobe. How about you?
