Wardrobe Items You Hope to See Under the Christmas Tree

Shamefully, I’ve already thought about a few wardrobe items I’d love to find under our Christmas tree this year. Any one of them would be greatly appreciated:

A bright chestnut cropped leather jacket
A structured yellow handbag
An oversized gold watch

Over to you. What’s on your wardrobe item wish list for Christmas? If you don’t celebrate Christmas, perhaps you have another occasion that involves gift exchange and you can tell us about what’s on that wish list.

Oh boy, don’t even get me started;-) Three items I would love to see under the tree:

– silver chain watch (I saw the perfect one at Burberry last year…)
– grey knee-high or OTK boots
– mid-size leather handbag in the perfect shade of green or blue

OK, so what I actually want for Christmas is MONEY since I want to be able to make the purchases myself so I know that they’re just right!

But the things that I am thinking about purchasing with said money (provided I can find one that like) are:

-Black leather cropped asymmetrical moto jacket
-Grey boots (maybe Frye Veronicas assuming they fit my calves…)
-A teal leather handbag that fits my many requirements
-Leather belts to fit my natural waist (rather than pants) preferably in fun colors

I’ve started giving this some thought. At the moment :
* knee high grey riding boots that fit small calves
* a gold oversized watch
* a fab handbag, probably a structured satchel in red or turquoise or a red clutch. I’m drawn to hobo style slouchy bags but should probably go for more structure to be age appropriate.

Other than a structured red bag (may I tell you how thrilled I am to see structured bags again?), I’m hoping for gift cards. My sister and I agreed that we’d ask for gift cards this Christmas and then get together and have a fun shopping day in Atlanta, where she lives.

Oh my, now how do I get my partner to read this thread?? I don’t really ever get clothing for Xmas or my birthday but that’s just fine – I like shopping and I like picking out my own things so that’s alright! And we just generally don’t give each other huge gifts. I have gotten some nice scarves and earrings over the years, though, which are much treasured.
Of course, now that you mention watches, if a little Xmas fairy swung by and delivered a killer watch to me I wouldn’t exactly mind… No gold watch for me, but a funky one with a bright wide band and a simple face and silver hardware, pleeze.

I’ve already keeping an eye out for a fun wallet. I have a large orange one and a smaller red one. The red one is a little old and not bright enough for me; I’m using it as back up right now because I’m trying to downsize the contents of my handbag. I noticed your flat frame wallet and I started thinking how useful and different it would be. It looks large, but it’s also flat, and thus more compact?

I think I’m going to break and get myself another gift super early – a brooch made from re-purposed zippers (from Etsy).

A couple items from the Carissa Rose site are on my list – the gorgeous Lola pencil dress for one, and the short-sleeved shirt in dove gray.

I’m right with you on the cropped chestnut (or brandy colored) leather jacket, Angie. I haven’t found a perfect one for me yet, though, and I’m fine on the moto jacket front for now.

For once I’m not too interested in clothing. For this holiday season, what I really want and need are furniture, storage, and decor for my to-be apartment.

I am going on a wild, compulsive shopping spree in the months leading up to my independence because this will probably be the last time I can be this irresponsible for a very, very long time :\

Oh, fun! I’m with Khris on the cognac knee-high boots. Number one on my wish list. Then I would want a pair of slouchy mid-calf boots to wear with my skinny jeans. And a pair of killer, comfy booties that I could wear with skirts or pants. (Do you see a theme here? I have severe shoe shortage!)

I’m with Laura, Angie wanting gold? Now that’s a twist.

I wouldn’t mind a pair of Frye boots in a chestnut color. I have light tan and gray boots, but that’s all for tall boots for me.

I’m also thinking about a new winter coat. Something along this style might be fun. But I’m not sure if the collar would swallow me, haven’t tried this on yet.

Hmmm I have a birthday in between now and Christmas, so I think about pressies for that rather than worrying about Christmas now. Having said that the things that my parents got for me in SF (that I should take possession of in 1.5 weeks when my bro comes to visit) will probably act as bday pressies, so maybe I should start thinking about Christmas!!!

I’m with Taylor. I got loads and loads of “advance” Xmas gifts during NAS (and several new handbags in August). Must remember to take them off my body and give to DH to wrap up for under the tree the night before.

It’s so much fun having my birthday and Christmas in my dominant shopping season. My birthday wish list is:
a) two tone loafers
b) mod black cropped jacket
c) Lucite bow broach

For Christmas it’s all about the leopard print coat!

Well, our Hanukkah menorah doesn’t have much space under it (LOL) and also the holiday is very early this year, but what I would love:

a few specific J Crew sweaters (the long marled cardigan in black and white and the moto styled one with the side zip);

the brogue oxfords and simples wedge shoes from Lands End Canvas;

a down puffer;

the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette.

Our annivesary is around Thanksgiving and DH and I usually exchange our bigger gifts at that time. We keep our Hanukkah gifts to each other smaller and focus more on the kids.

Oh goodness, I can’t believe we are only a couple months away from the holidays. Last time I asked for/received clothing items it didn’t go so well, but a girl can dream.

I have so many things that I don’t “need” in the most dire sense but would be useful to have– making the choices between the two is hard.

I would like:

A trench-style rain jacket with hood
A pair of cute low boots for rainy days/irrigating/ light snow in the yard
A pair of colorful, fun leather boots
Several sets of warm hats and gloves
Turquoise and coral heishi necklace and earrings

1. Gold menswear watch (I have my eye on a Marc Jacobs model as we speak!)
2. One more fall/winter bag (I adore my current one, but I want one to rotate with)

I feel so abundant and lucky that I don’t have much on my wishlist this year. If there’s a pair of dressy boots that fit me, are comfortable, and work with dresses and skirts, that would be great. And a pair of signature, bold, red earrings.

What!! Angie wants a gold watch? I have to recover from the shock!! This reminds me that I need a new strap for my mixed metal Oris. I’ve also been wearing lots of gold this fall and this watch would be the perfect accessory.

I don’t have much of a wishlist this year. I guess the perfect pair of cognac boots is really the only thing on my radar right now and I’d actually get much more use out of it if I could find a pair now!

I mostly want jewellery as it’s something I rarely buy for myself. It’s highly doubtful I’ll get any of this but I’ve let my husband know.

Vintage Lea Stein celluloid pin (I like the cats and foxes best, though the goose is hilarious)
Wolford tights – I can’t bring myself to spend the $50 but I’ll accept them as a gift
A structured yellow handbag with a long strap
A long strand of fine coral beads
Enamel guilloche earrings
Deer antler drop earrings
A really good quality open link long silver chain to mix my pendants up in
Jeffrey Campbell “Lady K” boots. Wedge, suede, black and white, mod styling? They must have been thinking of me when they made them.

It is a long list, but these are things that I’m still keeping an eye on and may be able to buy piece by piece before then. My birthday is also in December and my family usually asks for suggestions, so I ask for gift certificates for clothing stores…

As my birthday is December 29 I know. IT is always a pain for family members to rack their brains to come up with two gifts for me. Since she can’t get out to shop anymore my lovely and generous mother asked me to peruse the catalogues and come up with some ideas. Well it didn’t take me long to pick a beautiful boxy merino wool hi lo pullover from Garnet Hill in cobalt blue and from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Gift Shop a bracelet called their Perle Francaise Bracelet. Now I know I’ll be opening two quality gifts that are exactly what I need to fill in wardrobe gaps. Happy Holidays !!
