Aw, thanks so much, everyone! We are like a couple of teenagers, I swear!
The short version of the proposal story is that we were hanging out and he said "So my friend A was asking when we are going to move in together." And I immediately went to my Official Position of "Why would we move in together? I love my house and my independence and blahdy blahdy blah," and he said "Yeah, that's what I told A." And then upon reflection I realized that my Official Position was not, perhaps, my actual position. So a day or two later I said "So I would in fact be willing to move in together under certain circumstances," and he said "And by 'certain circumstances' you mean if we were married, right?" And we had an interesting talk about that, leaving a few retirement-planning-related loose ends to be researched and reported back upon. And when we picked up the loose ends a few days later after having done our research, he said "So I guess there's no impediment to our getting married," and I said "And therefore, what?" And he said "So let's get married!" And I said "Okay!'
And get this -- he wants to have a wedding! I just keep pinching myself! But of course the best part is that he truly is the kindest, dearest man in the whole wide world and we are just crazy about each other and we have SO MUCH FUN together -- even at the gym!
