wiw: 11.18.19 Long coat, cropped pants

I picked up this coat a couple of weeks ago, and this morning's blog post made it the right time to debut it. My day consisted of a doctor's appointment (why do we use that expression? the appointment is not for nor belongs to the doctor, it's for me!) and a trip to the indoor outlet mall to look for some blingy holiday shoes for my upcoming cocktail party. Regular stores have NOTHING cool.

Anyways, I love a good longer coat, but it has to be the right fit and cut, or I look like I'm wearing a men's bathrobe, and not in a cute way. I prefer longer coats to be very tailored with minimal detail, and this one from the Bay has it all. Wool blend, perfect fit that allows layering underneath but isn't too lose when worn with a blouse or t-shirt - and olive! Wore it first with this odd BR silky leopard blouse that I cannot get right , a pair of washed black Gap high waist cigarette jeans, and a pair of favourite fur trim sneaks from last winter. The blouse never worked well until I changed my hair colour , and now it's ok. Just not perfect with the washed out black denim - needed a stronger base bottom with it. Changed for a second round of grocery and pharmacy shopping into a pair of uber-tailored cropped Kate Spade pants. Blouse worked a lot better . And yes, I could have french-tucked the blouse for a longer leg line, but I wasn't taking my coat off and it wasn't a priority .

Anyways, I loved this outfit,! It felt a lot more modern and new than had I worn a shorter coat . Nails for the next two weeks are rose gold super glitter - which makes me inordinately happy and want to have everything pink and rosy and glittery. Brought out a rose gold trimmed Fossil watch and rose gold Kate Spade bangle to match.

Ooh, adore this. I think the blouse works supremely well with the new hair color and with the olive coat. SO pretty. I tried that blouse and couldn't raise my arms in it--it was so tight in the shoulders. Love the rich print--I will enjoy it vicariously.

Well, I love rose gold, pattern mixing, fur trim & long coats, there was no way I wasn’t gonna like this!

The catch is, I like it even more than anticipated. Completely modern with edge & verve. Looks awesome & you look très kewl.

I just got this one & because I am just under 5’5”, on me, it’s about an inch or so longer than where yours hits you. I plan to wear it just like here & the blog.

My long maxi red coat is very tailored. It's the only way it will not overwhelm my slight frame. And it looks great closed, which came up a lot in the blog comments (that you must leave the coat open for the outfit to look good). I did the same outfit formula today. Here are the exact pieces, and I fully tucked the pullover. (The usual = boots when working with a client today, and changed to sneakers for errands and walking Sam).

Angie - it's Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in Angelic . I bought it at Sephora. It's very metallic/chrome-y and works overtop anything. Great formula too. I have an eyeshadow palette from this line too - very nice quality all.

Your outfit is so cool, a great inspiration for the white sneaks with (a long) dressy coat! I've noticed you used a blouse(which is dressier than a tee) and those pants have a good ironed crease on front and so looking the most polished possible of the pants all-this may be the clue of the great succes(?).
