Sorry for being a forum hog about this topic. I will be until I have it really sorted in my own mind. We bought the airline tickets and some travel insurance today ( Air New Zealand was having an Asia sale) so it is more-or-less set in stone 6 months ahead. The tea ceremony is 5 November so 6 months exactly from today 5 May.
When searching I looked through the summer clearance rack at our department store Farmers. There was a dress in my favourite colour cobalt with a half lace overlay. Now it is polyester but it is more breathable in terms of quite big armholes and a back V, front crew neck. I thought it fitted really well and that I would wear it next summer if not suitable for the wedding. And it was only $40! (Originally $100).
It is sleeveless so I would have to cover the arms in the temple for the tea ceremony. I already own a large scarf I bought a few years ago but have never worn. ( Bought because so pretty! )
So here is a possible outfit lab. I would buy silver sandals with a block heel I think, the flat ones are just to show the colour. The bags are ones I already own, the large beaded one is quite useful to lug extra things about for events, it is from Thailand in 2010. Cobalt shoes are from 2014 and other cobalt bag a few years old but had little use. Good base, or not? Here are the other threads:
