Second possible MOB dress? - YouLookFab Forum

During the week I went shopping again after a Google search on NZ brands, shops, boutiques etc. This time I took possible sandals and jewellery with me in case I saw something. I found another sleeved dress with floral embroidery. I think I prefer it on me to the one in last weekend’s post but again was not 100% sure. The fabrics are still synthetic and it is still a V-neck though a slightly shallower one. I didn’t buy it as there are several in the company. This time an Australian brand I have owned before, and liked, called Front Page.
After that, I wandered through other shops and found a dress in my now favourite colour, cobalt, which I bought. It is sleeveless so needs covering for the Vietnamese tea ceremony. I will do a new post on it, as has photos taken today. I would wear the cobalt for sure for other things if not the wedding as I just love it plus it was way cheaper.
So here is choice number 2: ( please excuse weird tongue-poking-out in pic 4, didn’t realise until too late!) . I will do a possible choice number 3 post in a bit on the cobalt. Thoughts on this one versus last week’s one? Here is last week's thread:

For me I am a little torn because there as aspects of each one that I like more than the other.

Preference for this one:
- no alteration required (sleeves are a better fit)
- nicer neckline - I like how this dress is lined and fully lined on the top - the other dress with the slip meant that it could be more fussy dealing with the slip and bra straps.

Preferences for the other:
- I prefer the fabric on the other dress, it looked like a better quality of fabric and I liked the softer colours more
- I liked the soft flowy skirt of the other dress, which gave it a softer and more current look now that midi skirts are in fashion.

The real thing is - which dress do you prefer? You look WOW in the blue dress, so you have one dress sorted, can you afford to wait until another dress wows you in the same way?

I think this dress looks beautiful on you. I much prefer it to the first dress you looked at. I like the sheer sleeves, and the pink details go well with your complexion and add a little whimsy to the outfit--especially when paired with the pink shoes. This is my favorite of the three dresses.

I myself strongly prefer this dress to the dress you posted last week. To my eye, the dress fits you better - you're not drowning in the sleeves, the neckline sits nicely, and the body is more fitted which has a slimming effect.

Other things I like about this dress are the little pops of bright colour, which I think would be lovely for the occasion, and the narrower amount of sheer material around the knees, which I think is a nice detail but not distracting.

Overall, I think this dress is fab on you.

I might be able to wear the cobalt one to both events IF my daughter thinks that's OK. I also want to think about the photos- Staysfit had some excellent thoughts in my first post about what might look good in the photos 10, 20, 30 years hence. I think cobalt will look good with the red ao dai in the first ( tea) ceremony, then she is wearing a simple white wedding dress ( new Vietnamese MIL is a seamstress and is either making it or supervising its making ) which is apparently fitted in the bodice and fuller in the skirt, for the reception event. So maybe cobalt will look good with that too but maybe something else- and that event is air-conditioned.
I thought maybe the one with bright pink flowers ( potential dress 2) would not look as good with red ao dai but might look good against white.

I like the brighter flowers in this one, but I’m honestly not in love with either of the first two dresses for you. I’d keep the blue one, and keep looking, if you want to have two dresses.

I like this one a lot better than last week's. The scale of the print is more delicate and really suits you, and I like that the print has a little more pop and contrast. Looks great with the pink sandals.

I also like this one much better. The sheer sleeves and v neckline are flattering, and the delicate but cheery pattern is nice.

This is the best one so far, in my opinion! Pretty and fresh looking. Fancy without being fussy.

This is a better fit (think because of the sleeker and shorter sleeves-so no need of alterations) and look great with the magenta sandals! That said I liked the embroidery's scale, type and colors a bit more (as something a bit more different) in the first dress, but you are the only one to decide how you feel in-they are both great potentials!

ETA-just went back and saw the cobalt one (which I missed it somehow) and wow, love that even better for the heat. Looks killer with the geometric pattern pashmina!!!

JenniNZ, I really liked the other dress, but do prefer this one. I think this V neck is especially flattering. I think the fit of this dress is much better and I also prefer the floral embroidery on this one. Loving you pink sandals with this!

I prefer this one to the previous black dress post. I like the sheer overlay on both dresses but I prefer the fit and the colors of this one. It just looks brighter and more fun (and weddings should be fun!).
