Hi Dianthus --
Congratulations! And of course you're looking at dresses immediately...you're into that sort of thing. I think the dress you're looking at is stunning and perfectly appropriate.
A word of (faux) warning: When I started looking at dresses for a nearly 70 y.o. bride, I found there are really so, so many gorgeous possibilities out there. And as always, it seems the higher the budget the more options. You may end up wanting a dress for every hour, ha.
In general, anything tagged bridal tends to come with an upcharge. Definitely look at evening gown selections as there are plenty that come in white/ivory shades as well as really beautiful pale tones.
I'm not sure what your time frame til the celebration is, but ordering through a site that does bridal generally means long lead times. But of course you may visit a salon and fall in love with a sample or off-the-rack dress and be all set!
I know you have the Canadian angle to consider, but Nordstrom/NRack came through for "my" 2-dress bride. Before getting there I trolled approximately 1 million websites...sparkle overload, but fun. In the end she wore a long stretch lace gown with sequins (Ralph Lauren, ~ $200) and then a short sequin/illusion (David Meister, again ~ $200 but marked down from more than double that).
As a side note, I really loved a lot of the Meister dresses I saw and the quality was good--he might be a designer for you to explore, for sure. Keep us posted on the hunt!
Here are a few snaps of how my mature-in-age, young-at-heart bride ended up:
