Congratulations! I do love this dress and think you would look lovely in it... I also liked the dress Lisa at amid privilege blog wore as a 50+ bride etc if you are still scanning for ideas...

Congratulations! That dress is absolutely stunning and would be VERY appropriate!!!

So excited! Another YLF bride!

Love the dress in the pic! I think it reads like an elegant party dress -- quite sophisticated and special. Congratulations!

Congratulations, Dianthus!

Congratulations!

As for the dress, the one you have selected is lovely and perfect.mi say pick what makes you happy! This time around, it's whatever the two of you want.

Oh, congratulations!! What wonderful news. So happy for you.

And of course you are looking at dresses! That's exactly what you should be doing.

I adore the one you linked to. Very elegant, celebratory, and feminine, and it would look beautiful on you, I am sure.

I second Vix's suggestion to consider David Meister dresses. I got that one navy dress for my "stepmother of the bride" from Nordstrom on super sale, and WOW, the quality just amazed me. It is such a beautifully made item. And he makes some gorgeous dresses.

But the other options linked are also great. This is exciting!

Congratulations! I am so happy for you!

The dress you posted is beautiful, and would look beautiful on you. It is perfectly appropriate. But most "rules" now about second or later weddings, weddings with an "older" bride, etc. are out the window anyway. The beautiful thing about being fully mature when you get married is that you and your spouse can do things exactly as you please. The options for dresses are almost limitless, and you would look great in so many of the options posted here.

My sister was recently married at 48 on a paddleboat. She wore a soft gold long dress with a jeweled unstructured jacket. Not a typical ballgown or mermaid BRIDAL look, but miles from the staid off-white suit, too. I look forward to seeing what you choose and hearing about what you plan. What an exciting time!

Congratulations! You have been given wonderful suggestions and I have no doubt you will look beautiful!

Hooray!! Super exciting! The other Fabbers have given you great advice. Congratulations!!!

Congratulations! The dress you've shown is gorgeous and I am sure you will look stunning in it or whatever you end up choosing!

That is a beautiful dress. Celebrate!

Wow! Out of the box, and you picked a stunner. Try on a few, and enjoy the process. If you come back to your first choice...well, there you go!

Congratulations Dianthus! You will be a very beautiful bride. The dress is stunning and very suitable IMHO. It is elegant and I also saw a touch of Downtown Abbey:) but that is a good thing ...tasteful, elegant, sophisticated and feminine.

Thanks for the congratulations, feedback on the dress linked, and suggestions. I looked at the links and there were some very nice styles.

I am in no rush to find the dress since we are talking about fall of 2015. We have separate homes right now and T has a daughter in grade nine and one that just started university this year so there are a lot of details to work through.

Since we are on vacation, we have a lot of time to talk about some of the details and what our objectives are for the event. We agree that we would like it to be elegant but also fun for everyone who attends.

Oooo i just love your dress!!! Congratulations.

Congratulations! I love the dress.

Congrats, Dianthus! The dress you are considering is lovely.

Your taste is so elegant and classy I have no doubt you will be a beautiful bride. Enjoy the planning and try not to sweat the small stuff

I got married this summer, so quickly it was practically an elopement, in a very small, at home, family ceremony with a reception that included the extended family. I was a 52 year old bride. The spead of throwing this together (needed to get households merged and functional before school started) and the strong desire for it to be casual and no fuss, but for me to still feel pretty and appropriate helped me be very, very flexible when it came to finding something to wear. The dress did come from a bridal store and was actually probably intended to be a bridesmaid's dress. The second picture is to show inexpensive bird cage veil, which was my favorite part. In fact, a primary consideration for the dress was to select one that would look right with a veil like that. Given more planning time, I would have selected something white, and the sort of thing that comes up when you do Pinterest searches for "beach wedding dress." But, I am very happy with how it all turned out, and very, very happily married!

Congratulations, and your gown idea is lovely!

Big congratulations, Dianthus! That gown is beautiful, and I also love all the extra suggestions. Do keep us posted, please?

Congratulations (if it's OK to say that to the bride, these days?), I'm happy for you.

What a lovely dress, and I look forward to seeing pics of this one or whichever you choose.

Saw this on pinterest and loved it --- It's a different silhouette, but I thought it was very elegant.
