WIW: Color Story Snaps from the Vix Family Wedding

For any who were interested in how my big (150+) family wedding weekend went: it went!

[Not without moments of complete disarray, as we had two "big picture" people planning it.]

My 2-dress bride looked stunning (per everyone), the groom looked dapper, the grandchildren attendants added lots of zest, and my sister did a great job choosing and organizing the morning and evening flowers.

I felt great in both my church and reception outfits -- which ended up being more front and center than I'd realized due to last-minute requests of the B&G to us -- and got lots of compliments on both from strangers and folks who've known me since I was a twinkle in my parents' eyes. Wish the pro had captured some better shots of my Sparkle Barbie dress, but he had his hands more than full.

Funny thing was that we had lots of unintentional color co-ordinating -- so we looked more cohesive than we might have!

Vix, you are particularly stunning in the sparkle dress! That posture - so jealous. Cheers to the bride and groom and the kids are adorable, but I gotta say my favorite picture is the one of you and your grandmother.

Ahhh - too much gorgeousity for one post! I'm in love with your blue sparkle gown, and your elegant up-do! These shots are fab. Adorable Mom and daughter co-ordinating shot! Love to see the details on B's ensembles and accompanying fanfare. Blue is my new go-to colour, by the way - just perfect. These photos are beautiful, but Vix, I really had to catch my breath for your evening gown shot. Oh my word, lovely doesn't even start it. Absolutely out of this world stunning. What a pleasure. I didn't catch the backstory but I love the shots of the older freckled skin. It will be me someday and it's lovely.

Hi all...a quick thank you for now. Overcast day equaled saturated colors! My sibs and I were bellyaching about how a good shot of 1 meant a bad one of the rest -- maybe I should propose the headless ones. I for one have a knack for looking like Michael Jackson in still shots. /vanity

Aside from expected family dynamics, it was a lovely weekend of events. Now the hard part starts as the B and G are going to be under one roof after lots of solo living with very different threshholds for *stuff.*

Scarlet, bride (nearly 70) and my grandmother are unrelated by blood but share freckles. Love them on both and wish I'd inherited!

I know family was pretty tapped out by the end of the weekend, but I think the guests had a good time. The B&G are so fortunate to have so many friends/family members still in good enough health to share the day(s!).

I have to say that hearing the bride's friends give thumbs up to the dresses I helped her choose was awesome. The lace wedding dress photographed SO, so well. Not bad for $200 (Ralph Lauren)...plus the cost of the foundation garments that contributed to it looking so polished. And I love that her reception dress can be recycled for special events.

I have a bit of a blanket "thank you" to YLFers who weighed in here and my dress preview thread. Part of my style journey has been finding the guts to wear stuff that does, at times, garner attention...and not feel like I'm competing with other women. [File under: Family issues]

My sibs were a bit snarky about the Sparkle Barbie dress and I didn't give a rat's patootie as I felt gorgeous, fun, and appropriate for the occasion/venue. The bride has yet to weigh in but I feel I did my part to help her shine (literally, ha!) and I had enough of her dearest friends complimenting me to make me feel secure that I wasn't trying to steal thunder etc.

As members here routinely demonstrate, There is plenty of "praise pie" to go around. And that holds true with achievements, obviously, not just style/looks.

It was a wonderful surprise to see so much color; my grandmother's cane was especially beautiful to me. And since it was a morning wedding many of the guests gussied up in festive shades too.

Thank you! Those flower girl dresses are so stereotypically girly but I can't help but smile when I see them. And both sets of kids holding hands are new to each other -- adorable to see them being so open and having fun together.
