Some time ago I posted about my desire to add a waistcoat to my wardrobe. At that stage they were hard to find, and I was tempted to keep a Zara knitted version I showed on the forum. I didn’t.

Fast forward 2 years. They are fairly ubiquitous here now. This year I bought 2.

One I thrifted. The other I paid a small fortune for.

For lunch today with my mum, I wore the one that cost a small fortune. It’s asymmetrical. Not quite what I was looking for because I can’t really wear it open, but I fell in love with the asymmetry. I’m a sucker for asymmetry. Modern, to my eye.

I wore it with my bronze jeans and a grey jacket.

The grey jacket is new this year. It’s part of a small grey capsule I’ve put together for Autumn Winter. I like the texture, the gold buttons and the fact that it’s a little oversized. I wanted to dip into that trend.

The layering top attracted me because of the unusual braided arms. I’m a sucker for texture too! For a little dark romance, it’s an interesting alternative to a more traditional lace shirt.

Suede bag for more texture.

No necklace because the braided triangle of fabric above the waistcoat filled that role. But I felt naked, so I had to wear a big ring instead. A bronze ring of course, which I thrifted.

Loving the new waistcoat. On this occasion, my patience paid off. I like it much more than the Zara version and I think it will have more longevity in my closet. But I don’t always bat for Team Patience. Plenty of times I have settled early and regretted it. You?
