In October 2015 we took our first step away from being an ad-supported website by removing ads for logged in members. At the same time we added the option of supporting YLF by becoming a patron and making a monthly contribution. A few months later we added the option of an annual, non-recurring contribution. 

Today we’re making another tweak to the model. From now on YLF will be ad-free for all visitors, regardless of whether they are logged in or not.

Our reasoning is the same as it was when we turned off ads for logged in members. Ads slow down the site, are sometimes distracting, and do ever more sophisticated tracking in order to show you the most relevant ad they can. We’re just happier with YLF as an ad-free experience.
