WIW :: YLF rule #2 in action for one more summer B&W outfit

*** Short version:
Listening to Angie to WEAR THE HECK OUT OF MY CLOTHES, I'm wearing old favorites by the good, quality European brands I have come across or mentioned here these days.

*** Long version:
Just 2 days after posting this outfit I had another opportunity to dress in something else than MOTG-driven outfit.

I kept many elements of the previous outfit similar: white bottoms, black lace-up espadrilles, chunky bracelet. The top is different though, it's b&w button-down (14 tiny buttons!) with the pattern that is easiest described as toile de joie. I love tis pattern so much, but the real reason why I bough this top (by Mexx - we mentioned it here these days) is the wonderful cut that reminds me a bit of cheongsam, something Inge wrote about in her DVD review recently.

The pants are by InWear and are at least 10 years old. I used to wear them as my summer white pants, but nowadays the length wouldn't qualify nowhere near PPL, so I tried to roll them up to what's hopefully good length. Good, bad? Please be honest?

They are wonderful mixture of cotton + elastane that stubbornly keeps its shape no matter what I do in them, and are one of the best quality pants I ever had - which makes me indecisive and reluctant about doing something with them that involves hacking... although I might get more mileage out of them if I do something.

So lovely, Ornella! I agree with you about the cut of the Mexx top. It does remind me a bit of a cheongsam.

I am wearing one of my Mexx tops today and although it doesn't have the same neckline, it does hug the curves in a similar way without adding fussiness.

The trousers look terrific! I think the length works perfectly with the taper. This is a wonderful summer fresh look!

This is gorgeous, fresh and lovely Ornella! I love the soft pattern and the white pants are perfect rolled up. Good for you and rule #2!

It seems to me that with your long legs, you do not need to make leg lengthening a priority. I'll be that you can wear those pants at a variety of lengths and they will still look fab. They look great here, but maybe you can post them folded or pinned to a variety of lengths, remembering that you can always err on too long?

Great black and white outfit. I adore those toile prints but they are not easy to find. Lovely top. I think the trouser roll works here. The cuff looks like it's right against the leg with no bulk and you get to see those fun tie shoes with the rolled up hem. Nice job!

I love that top. And I can't believe those white pants are 10 years old. Just goes to show that some garments can be worn for years and never look dated.

Ornella: I agree with Donna that your long legs are more forgiving with pant length. That said, I like the length you've chosen, love the toile (even in wallpaper) and ADORE the espadrilles.

Thanks Alicat, Jeanne, Shedev, Claire, Donna, Merwoman, Deborah, Kathy, Lisa, Gaylene, Beth Ann and A. I am very happy I got the length of the pants right - I'll keep wearing them like this for the rest of the summer, then we'll see next year what I'll do with them.

And yes, 10 years is a long, long time. They're actually even older (I have them on the photos from 2000!) but I can't remember the exact year when I bought them. Either way, they are a good example of what kind of quality I should be focusing on.

@Angie, this is one of the outfits that simply *feels* right although I cannot always break it down to individual elements that make it up. But, your words make me more determined to listen to that inner voice about what's right for me.
