Today was my first day at work after my Summer holiday, and I chose a black, cream and white print dress (bought in 2009 in Hawaii, don't know what brand) with a v-neck, flared skirt and puff sleeves. I paired it with low patent leather wedges that I bought while is the US this Summer (Nine West, w/peep toe). I topped it with a light blazer in blue grey. The brand is MEXX (Danish ETA: Dutch!). I wore white enameled flower studs, and my laptop bag is synthetic, black with piping in blueish lilac. As a pop of color I added a bright red flower hairpin on the lapel.
I did scrunch the sleeves several times, but the smooth fabric made it difficult to maintain the scrunches.
I would have preferred to have a more casual jacket with this dress, and I did get comments that could indicate "overdressing". But several of other coworkers did also show up in pretty dresses today, so I felt just fine!
