I am finding ankle length confusing. Zap recommended these for me for work pants, and I ordered in a few sizes. I like them although this isn't the best shirt with them.

This is the regular in short length. Petite was too short in the rise. These fit comfortably are a nice heavy weight, so if there were extra length I think it would bubble up at the hem instead of scrunching. There is a little notch at the hem which makes me feel like these are supposed to be mid-calf and that I'm wearing too-;long capris - is that true?

I wonder how Angie would think of the length, but to me, they're not too short. I like them. It's a cool, hip cut and you always look so good in these saturated colors. Always make sure you wear them with shoes you want to showcase, the way Italians do, because that is what will happen.

Thanks, Mochi - these feel full length to me in the sense that if they were longer they would crunch up (but not slouch nicely) - I'm just wondering if they are cut for a leg that's way longer than mine and taper too quickly.

I think these look good and am not seeing any tapering issues. Like Mochi said, make sure to wear shoes you want to show off.

I am going to be watching everyone's responses as I also find ankle length confusing. For regular length pants, I think the length looks good. If they are supposed to be ankle pants, then they might be too long. I just read somewhere that ankle length should be a few inches above your ankle.

Whatever length they're supposed to be, I think they look fine the way they are!

I think they look good at this length. Maybe it is the shoe that is throwing it off for you.

I guess I was thinking these are regular length ankle pants (as opposed to cropped) - or are ankle pants cropped by definition? These are not the ideal shoe but they are what I have for heels at the moment!

Love the fit of these on you Una and these would make great work trousers...BUT I'm going to leave the length discussion to those more knowledgeable.

How much longer can/should they be? Any longer and they will not fall properly in this material (which is kind of stiff), because of the narrow hem they hit my foot.

I'm going out on a limb here but FWIW I think they are either too long or too short. Now there's a helpful comment for you!
They are cut full in the calf making me think they're meant to be slouchy, in which case they are too short.
But that leaves me puzzling over the notch at the ankle.
Apart from the length puzzlement, the fit and colour of these pants are great. Do you have cage sandals to wear with them as an alternative to the black heels?

I think they should be a couple inches above your ankle bone. I think they are too long (but not long enough) if that makes any sense!

I think they are probably too long for how they are intended to fit. However I do still like them and I am no length expert, so I would be tempted to wear them like this.

Sooo, I have to weigh in. 'Cause I have to. Actually, I own these exact same pants and I wear them all the time in my law office and think they are very appropriate for our work, Una. I'm wearing them in black here (with a killer rating nonetheless and nice compliment from you) and in black and blue (#1 and #2) here. I wonder if what folks are responding to is the color. Red is a very bold color choice, much bolder than blue.

With that said, I don't think they are photographing very well for whatever reason, and I think I know the reason. Are these too big on you? They are meant to fit as cigarette style trousers, close but not skin tight. Skimming, not grabbing. These look like they have way too much fabric on you. If they fit closer, then they would be proper pants length. I think you need to size down.

I am not sure because I actually violate PPL with mine. That tapered leg, ankle pant is really on trend here. I do wear much higher heels or shoes with ankle straps with them. I hope Rae chimes in.
ETA: And I'm agreeing with K. That type of pant is completely business appropiate, mine are a bit more snug, just like K's

I agree with K and Zap. It's the fit of these (or maybe the cut, if they are fitting in the waist) possibly combined with the colour, and also, you can't wear them with Mary Janes, IMO, because the strap creates and interfering line and messes things up.

It has to be a fairly tapered cigarette style fit to work at this length, IMO. If it's slouchy it will look a lot better at full length.

Wow! Suz nailed it exactly! I didn't even notice that, but that is exactly what is bothering me. The strap. I always wear mine with pumps with a deep vamp to increase the length of my leg. I'm okay with them with pointy flats, but they aren't as figure flattering. They aren't bad. Just not great. A pump is what makes them work so well. I think it even increases the formality of them.

Yes, if they're meant to be the trendy ankle-length the hem should end higher than it is here on you and they should fit more closely. It's kind of hard to tell in that first photo but they look like they're tapering at a different slope to your leg than expected for this cut with the knees too low, making me think they are too long?

I love them and the length. But I do think you may need to size down as per K's comment. The leg does not look slim enought on you Una. If you can get the fit right, I think these will be amazing for business. The right footwear is key too I think.

I also have these in black and navy and I adore them. They are my only work pants. I believe I have them in the regular length, regular sizing, and they just cover my ankle bone (I am 5'5" with short legs).

For summer I'm wearing them with my AGL ballet flats and also some Talbots gunmetal sequin pointy toe flats (yes, really). Oh, I also wear them with some 1.5" heel black and cream spectator slingback flats (Angie pick a year or two ago).

One outfit with the navy pants got me a K rating from Angie.

I like these! I have them, too, in regular length. They are full-length on me, too.
