Here are a couple of different interpretations of the tailored equestrian ensemble, worn about two weeks ago when it was posted. I really want a proper Smythe plaid equestrian jacket, but it is not in a budget at a current time. My three versions of the ensemble were built around three different jackets all of which have some of the elements of the dream jacket but not all:
1. Jacket #1 is a burgundy ponte Gibson blazer in a proper equestrian cut with the peplum at the back
2. Jacket #2 is a plaid navy H&M with suede elbow patches, tailored at the waist, but without the pretty peplum back,
3. Jacket #3 is my only Smythe, bought at huge dicount at the beginning of 2015. Even though it is a different cut from the one I wanted- it is called a " Boy Blazer" and it is pretty straight - I couldn't resist it at about ~ $100. I am wondering if I should have the waist taken in or leave it as is - what do you think? I have barely worn it and hope to remedy that this season.
The outfits:
1. The first equestrian outfit (#1-2) was based on jacket #1 and Angie's Capsule #2 in the blog post. It combines the jacket with a high neck Victorian H&M blouse, black cropped ponte Halogen pants, pewter ET booties and black BR bag. It was worn on Friday 11/5 for a day of shopping with my best friend who was visiting from Boston. I tried very hard not to buy anything, but the choker necklace at the end of the Finds followed me home
2. The second outfit was based on jacket #2 and left outfit in the blog post photo. It combines the jacket with white boatneck AT sweater, white cropped C/E jeans, cognac Gap belt, cognac BR bag and tan Report booties. It was worn on Saturday 11/6 for a fun reunion brunch with my visitors as well as joint local friends.
3. The final outfit was based on jacket #3 and right outfit in the blog post image. It combines the charcoal Smythe jacket with black striped BR turtleneck, black cropped BR Sloan pants, ET booties and cognac BR bag. It was pretty cool outside so I topped it all withe J. Crew black mixed-media cocoon coat. This was worn on Monday 11/7 to work.
