I worry that I am a forum hog. Please tell me if it is too much, and you're tired of me. I tire of myself sometimes.
This week I let the accessories decide what to wear. It resulted in a few minor surprises and a lesson learned. Normally, I wear a lot of scarves and few other accessories. Most of my shoes and bags are pretty neutral, and not statements. My goal this week was to challenge myself to think a bit differently when composing outfits - hence the focus on accessories. I got the idea from Imogen's blog.
#1 Monday: A day off, stayed mostly at home. I wanted to wear the yellow polka dot Summer scarf, and a light skirt. I paired it with white and blue stripes and nude loafers. The family liked it a lot. Happiness factor: High
#2 Tuesday: At work. The black&white scarf from last week took the lead, and I paired it with cropped pants and a cream sweater + nude loafers (indoors only). My daughter told me to have the pants hemmed, so now I guess I have to get around to it. It has been on my mind for a while. Happiness factor: Medium
#3 Wednesday: Home office. Last Autumn, I bought these orange suede wedges, and they have mostly been sitting in my closet ever since. I tried to pair them with a complementary color, hence the chambray shirt. Black and orange is not a favorite with me, so I chose the white jeans instead. I even added a tiny wristband in orange to bookend a little. Lesson learned: These shoes are not very comfortable. I can't wear them sans hose. It might not have been my best purchase last year. Happiness factor: Medium
You saw my Thursday outfit yesterday: Inspired by Ornella and a scarf. Happiness factor: Through the roof!
#4 Friday: Home office+appointment with my hair stylist. Today I challenged myself to wear a necklace, which I rarely do. This one is in cream with hints of navy and gold, so I paired it with the Breton. The blue cigarette pants have been stored away during Winter, and are a nice rendevouz. Indoors, I wear my red flats, but it is still ice and very wet outside, so I tucked the pants into my black boots, a look I rarely have worn this year. I desperately need to wear something else than my puffer and coat, so I threw on a wool cardigan for warmth and my trench - first wearing this season. My black bag seemed the natural choice, and finally the Spring green scarf. Happiness factor: High
Thanks for looking and reading! If you have any suggestions or comments, I'm very interested in your thoughts. Have a great weekend, everybody
