ETA: Or The Grotty and the Grouchy! Half-tuck photo added at end of day, chaotic hair and all. Better? At first it didn't seem that way but seeing a side-by-side it may be more flattering. Or not. I'm tired and confused!

I am so excited that these slouchy tuxedo pants fit me again! Worn with Crown Vintage oxfords and F21mint top. I think my camera angle is making me look stumpier than IRL. Need to find a new place to take photos now that it's nice out.

Hey, you had slouchy pants all along?? These are FAB, Una, what a thrill that you are back into them. I personally don't feel the stump because the top is sheer and lets more leg line come through. What do you wear over the top to keep warm?

I really like those slouchy pants. They drape beautifully and the color is really nice too.

I agree with Christianne though. I would like to see a partial tuck to get more of the waist and slouch detail showing. I do love the color combo of brown with aqua/turquoise.

Thanks.ladies! A half-tuck is a great idea. It was hard to figure out with the cami underneath, but I will give it a better try when I'm back home. These are pretty high waisted on me.

I bought these pants maybe two years ago? But then gained weight and forgot about them. I think I wore them in one outfit posted here already.

Rae, I'm not wearing anything over this, other than my peacoat to walk outside. It's "spring", after all.

And Rachylou, I have a hard time finding summery UWP items, which may explain the "sweeter" look. I am open to ideas for spring/summer UWP looks, though!

You absolutely CAN do slouchy pants! There's no stumpiness in sight at all- in fact you are looking just tiny and svelte.

I love those pants with those shoes--perfect match!! I'm not sure how I feel about the top with the pants, but take my comments with a grain of salt since I am obviously alone in my assessment :).

This is a way cool outfit - the shoes! the pants! the top! Just wondering if you've tried the top with a dark cami underneath to deal with the whole grinning issue - it seems like a cami that is a dark taupe with blend in with your skin and the pants and might work. Then again, it might be totally bizarre...

Hmm I also am not sure about the top with the pants, could just be the picture but on my screen the pants read as a warm shade and the top cool. Totally in the minority on that though, so feel free to ignore me

(Sarah I was thinking that too! A cami that would match the tone of the pants.)

The pants are a pretty neutral elephant grey, like a military color.

Aida, weren't you the one that said you don't worry about mixing cool and warm tones, or was that someone else? I have a hard time distinguishing cool and warm colors!

Sarah, the F21 photo showed this with a black cami. I liked it but thought this was better for work. Will try your idea though!

It was me! But I am particular about which cool and warm tones get mixed together. If the pants are neutral or cool, then the top should be just fine

Hmm let's see you're Winter coloring right? I looked up "elephant gray" and it looks like a warm gray from what I could see. So for you, I would pair with blues, reds, and whites/creams without worrying about warm/cool. Some yellows might work (not too sure), pinky-purples could work but probably don't work well with your coloring? IMO, greens would be the trickiest with this. I would want to see more yellowy greens, BUT you probably look best in more emerald shades right?

Eep, I sense a whole new world of beginner level opening up! I always thought of grey as a cool neutral but now I see I must mend my ways... thanks for clarifying. I will have to go fling things around in my closet now to see this concept in action.

Hehe, grays are the trickiest neutral in my opinion! I am able to wear and mix warm/cool colors because I can fairly easily wear several of both (primarily warm, though), but I'm not always able to articulate why they work well. If you can identify the warm colors you wear well (e.g. tomato red), those are the things you usually could mix with cooler shades (e.g. cobalt or ice gray). Same with the other direction, a cool shade like citron could mix with a warm shade like the tomato red or even these warm-gray pants. I'm kind of of the opinion that you can mix any of the colors that work well for your personal coloring. It's those other shades, the far-from-the-face shades, that get tricky. So that's a good place to start

@una, these pants are by far my fave of the slouchies. well done. i do like the post frazzle hair too. the piece-y ends look intentional and product intensive.

@ aida, totally hear you on the grays disquisition. i find i can wear charcoals more easily near the face compared to light, silvery grays. those are my equivalent of soul sucking beige. matching grays is a bear!

bj1111, the funny thing is that my frazzled hair is the result of NO styling! My son decided we need to start a "mom and kid go out for breakfast before school" policy on Fridays, so I just had time to get up, shower and stumble out the door. In the first photo it's brushed, but you can see that by day's end it is a whole different, er, "style".

I actually switched shampoo and conditioner too, which is giving my hair a more beachy summer look somehow.

I'm now looking at greys in a whole new light. For instance, this shade:

I much prefer the first but why it dove grey? Is that a warm tone? Or a neutral?
