WIW; Another miss?

Attempting to get my mojo back... Old Ralph Lauren blazer, old slouchy pants with tuxedo stripe (that fit me again after a year or so), F21 floral silk blouse (tan, grey and blue), Crown Vintage two-tone oxfords.

Frumpy? Mismatched? Just plain off? Don't hold back if you think this is a mess!

I think I might it better with a little more color on top - the blazer is hiding the pretty blouse. Plus it is a bit boxy on you - it's the high lapel RL does so well. I have one of those and it's definitely a "low contrast" bullet proof type of jacket.

That said, the pants and top and shoes are very UWP and Office wear. I just think you need a softer blazer to carry the look through

I totally agree with Christieanne...more color on top or at least that can be seen better and a softer blazer. Have you ever tried vests ?

Something like this, because of the lack of hardwear would be great. You could wear a dress, a skirt, more tailored pants and still look very appropriate. If you wanted to throw on a more conventional blazer for court, toss this in the office and have a court blazer ready to go ! ( In grey )

I also think that a leather vest would be great.

Just 3 things that you could wear a couple of times a week as a topper or "finisher" would be enough for you now, no ?

Hmm, me likey! I assume when you move the top shows so I think it looks perfect UWP. Perfect slouchy slacks. Awesome structured jacket. Cool shoes!

I love the slouchy trousers and how the oxfords and jacket echo each other colorwise. But I agree about colors on the top -- would love to see more of the blue. I can't quite articulate how the colors for the jacket, pants, and shoes aren't cohering for me.

I like this silhouette alot. Not frumpy or a mess at all. It's definitely a bit on the sombre side, colour wise with the earth tones, but your hair and the blouse inside perk those shades up! Maybe add a bold coloured watch or bangle?

I feel like I want to see more of the blouse --- but possibly one does, in real life, while you move around and the topper is unbuttoned? That's my only critique really.

Beyond that, if it jibes with your style, I might consider adding a cuff or something in the line of UWP wristwatch or jewellery (or sunglasses).

Do you have a bracelet that has the blue color from the blouse in it by chance? That would help "pull" the color out. The slacks are great if you're going for slouchy. I never really wear slouchy or pleated pants so I'm not a great reference for those. Overall it looks good but the jacket could be a bit more fitted in the waist if I were being picky.

Una, I really like this outfit concept but I agree with the other ladies that the blazer seems a little too covered up and boxy. I think either a blazer with a deeper neckline or a more shrunken fit would be better.

Gosh, I really like this, Una. I think the only missing signature element is some color. I don't recall seeing you in brown before--it's softer than black, definitely.

Una, these pants are GORGEOUS on you!! They are an 11! And you're saying that they have a tuxedo stripe?! How fabulous! I adore the pants with the shoes! You should wear these pants at least once a week! Overall, the outfit is fab. If I am being nitpicky, I would say that replacing that particular jacket would up the style ante even more (less brown, two button or one button stance, vs. three button), but I think it works just fine. I like the color palette a lot.

I think you are being too hard on yourself, Ms. Una :).

My preference for me is to show more bodice but I think your outfit, with the jacket that doesn't deign to show much shirt, looks incredibly hip. On me, frumpy. On you, cool.

bj1111, I WISH! I am pretty sure a shredded leather jacket is not going to go over well. As far as other issues, hmmm.... midlife crisis, perhaps? Nothing is scaring away business, actually - I'm swamped and overwhelmed with work, which is part of the reason I need to step up the dressy factor and also the reason I'm unable to concentrate on wardrobe issues.

Jonesy, thanks for the compliment on the pants! I got them a year and a half ago on final sale (they are some fancy brand from shopbop) but then gained weight. They finally fit again and thankfully still seem to be on trend.

The RL jacket is one I've had forever. It has a covered placket so to be honest, I sometimes wear it buttoned up like it's a shirt. There's something I like about the fit.

I tried this without a jacket, but the neck of the top is very open and needed to be anchored to keep from sliding around my shoulders... fashion tape?

Agree it's a dark color palette and could use some color. Probably reflecting my current mood about getting dressed.

Now I need to know WHY! Because I don't know, other than that I like it. Jacket not too big/boxy/dark for the outfit?

These pants will be seeing a lot more action now that they fit. I am going to look for inspiration on what tops to pair with a slouchy drop-crotch trouser! I'm thinking a cropped fitted black suit jacket.

I am a straight shooter, Una. This outfit *is* a 10 without even trying.

Great fits - clean lines - flattering proportions - attractive colours - the right amount of trend with the classics - long leg line - no nonsense - not trying to be too clever - a good amount of *cool* - authoritative but fun - interesting - quite polished...(Yes! You might need to live with that Madame RATE:))
