WIW: Soft White Top

Loved Angie's round up of soft white tops and one of my goals this Spring/Summer is to add more white to my wardrobe. For now, I will play with what I have in my closet.

Today's outfit also incorporate Angie's formula for layering a coloured tank underneath a white top.

So I started today's outfit with my white BF jeans. I then added a cobalt blue tank and layered over top of that my white hole-y pullover. Love how the cobalt peeks out of the laser cut holes. I semi tucked the pullover and added a tan leather belt. I really struggled with what belt to wear. I tried my wide white one and just wasn't feeling it. So I went with the tan - it feels more grounded. Hope it looks ok.

I chose my laser cut bone oxfords for footwear - the laser cuts in the shoes mimic the laser cuts in the pullover. Plus it adds to my almost white-out look.

Citron handbag, red specs, gold watch and wedding ring and swipe of coral lipstick finish off the outfit.

Thoughts ladies? Does it all work together or does the tan belt and citron handbag make it look disjointed? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Love how the perforated shoes echo the same effect in the top!
Also admiring the contrasting color peeking out from under the white top - white-out with contrast.
Very chic and pulled-togther!

ETA: I almost think a dark belt might work better, because of the dark under-top, dark specs, and your dark hair.

I like almost everything about this Shannon. The bookended perforations, the lined up necklines, the proportions... awesome! What's not working for me as much is the belt and purse combo. The earthyness of the belt colour with the pure clearness of the citron colour don't harmonize, to my eye. But I know this is a "thing" for me and not necessarily for others

So well pulled together, so FUN! I really like your use of cutout -- so modern. To my eye the belt works because of your colouring, and I don't see a disjoint between the citron bag and belt. Maybe because the hardware on the bag looks to be gold tone?

If I have any suggestion (and take it FWIW, I'm a complete colour novice) it would be on the whites in this particular mix. Then again, I'm a bit weird about whites -- I know it's now OK, even desirable, to mix different tones of white so I'm likely behind the curve. To me, the top looks a bit brighter white than the BFs. If that is the case, and it's not just the photo lighting, I'm wondering if a warmer-toned underlayer might lessen this effect; the cobalt is so fun, but a bit cool toned. Or maybe a warmer tone underlayer would do the reverse and enhance the brighter white even more? As I said, I'm a colour novice. And that's really just a picky suggestion on my part as I definitely think this look works nicely. And it is SO FUN!

Fresh and zingy! Loving all the cut out details and the blue under-layer. I think the belt works pretty well as it's kind of echoing your skin tone. I'd also love a cobalt belt I think.

I really like it which makes perfect sense since I wore my white jeans with a dark teal tank top layered under my sheer white striped top, a brown belt and beige shoes either yesterday or the day before. If we had been standing together, we would have looked much alike except that you have done a fab job of adding a hit of color and interest with your bag.

I love this on you! So crisp and fresh. The cobalt accent adds a perfect touch and makes the all white ensemble less "pristine" and gives it a shot of personality. Love the bag too...

One of my favorites of yours, Shannon, and I'm admiring how the laser cuts and holes all work together to form a cohesive pattern. Wonderful use of accent colors with the white, too! This is the way it's done.

Great look! I love the cobalt under the white top. I don't think I have any white that's sheer enough for this look to work, but I would love to try it.

Could this be a "radiant white"(as the radiant orchid last spring) outfit? Love the textures with the brights just peaking out from unders on top, great fit on jeans, great shoes, and sparkling bag! I would also like to have more white items in my wardrobe, it feels so fresh just wearing them, isn't it!

Works for me! I'd try a metallic belt with this, too. I've got a patchwork cream belt, something like that could also be fun. Perforations galore is super fun

Aliona - the white are a wee bit different but that doesn't bother me in the least. Angie has gotten me over my fear of mixing different shades/tones of white. But I do get what you're saying

Elizabeth - I actually wondered after I left the house if my two-tone cognac handbag would have been better and would have made the belt look like it belonged more with this outfit. Oh well...

You could always buy a light colored belt that you like and then a tube of Rub N Buff in pewter to change it to the metallic you want. If you are at a thrift store, you could probably pick one up for next to nothing. If you can't find rub n buff, metallic craft paint with fabric medium would work too.

I love your version of white-out, Shannon, with the addition of a little color. This is a great rendition of Angie's sweater and contrasting tank ensemble! I didn't notice the tan belt and citron bag until you pointed them out (I looked at the photos and then read your comments). I think the tan belt is such a neutral, it just blends in and doesn't "not" go with the bag. What a magnificent fit on those jeans, and the sweater, too. Just slouchy enough for a chic casual look.

My eye went straight to the tan belt. I can't decide if a different color belt would have been better. Perhaps cobalt? It doesn't appear to be "an issue" but my eye just went straight to it. Something to consider but it definitely doesn't feel out of place (with or without the bag).

You do look great!! The sweater, jeans, shoes are all perfect fits and so fresh.

I would also either have a different belt or a different handbag in an ideal world. Metallic belt or the cognac handbag would work.

However my world is not ideal - I certainly don't always have the perfect handbag or belt or coat for every occasion.
