WIW: rolled pants & shorter shaft booties

When Angie posted her new casual cold weather uniform, featuring high shaft booties and cropped flares, I was just feeling ready to try her previous cold-weather uniform of rolled boyfriend jeans and shorter-shaft booties. I'm wearing that combo to work today.

The outfit:
Blue boyfriend chinos (Eddie Bauer); mauve, blue, gray, orange floral cotton cross-over blouse (made by me); gray croc-textured moto boots (Donald Pliner); dark olive leather moto jacket (AllSaints); cream and taupe shoulder bag (Fossil).

I hadn't tried the rolled boyfriend leg with short boots like this before, but I think it works with these new boots that I got at Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. What do you think?

Great colors!
I might roll an half inch higher--but I have problem with then pants too tight on my calves, if they were tapered. Not sure how you rolled them, but if I end up doing a couple of turns, I will sometimes first do a wide turnup then turn that up in half,and sometimes it lies flatter.

I almost missed this one and am glad I didn't. I think it is a great outfit. I think you could roll a bit higher or leave as is because both would work well. The only thing I might change out was the bag. It seems a bit light for the rest of the outfit.

That jacket is outstanding and the detail works beautifully on you.

I'm thinking these boots would also look great with some jeans or trousers you have in cream or something--also culottes!
And would love to see a deep rust or orange bag to bring out the colors in the top--great Firecracker creation, BTW.

However, I don't have an endless array of bags in different colors myself and in fact I have a light, pearl-colored one that goes with everything, and while I use it mostly S/S and transition to gray or something for fall and winter, I would likely use it like yours here, picking up the light color in the print. I am not one to swap them out daily, but do on occasion for certain outfits that I have matched up with a handbag--have been trying to see what kind of limited handbag capsule of maybe 6-8 bags can incorporate the best colors, including neutrals, for S/S and F/W to complement my wardrobe.

I absolutely love the boots and jacket together, and imagine almost everything you wear would be great with them. Brilliant! And rolled boyfriends with this height of boot still works for my eyes.

Love love love that jacket! Wow! And I like how the color of the pants really bring out the blue in to top. I think the height of the roll works as it but you might also be able to go one higher.

ETA: not sure why it's showing a find here. I tried to remove it but it won't for some reason.

I could try a little higher roll--thanks for the tip on keeping it flat, unfrumped.

Cheryle and unfrumped, I agree this bag seems light for this outfit. I was being lazy and also wanted to see if it looked better in the photos than it did in the mirror (um, not). I think my light gray backpack would have gone better, or perhaps my taupe shoulder bag, which I didn't get out to check.

The boots with the jacket are a nice surprise. I didn't realize how well they would coordinate till today. This is the first outing for the boots, and they were very comfy for work and for riding my bicycle--yay!

Thank you for showing us how you are doing this look. I wore rolled sized up pants and jeans all summer with ankle strap shoes and was thinking of doing something similar with booties for winter. It would probably be a better look for me than short flares.

To me the height of the roll is right. I like a minimal gap between pants and boots. You look great and I really love both the jacket and boots on you. I think we are partial to the same colours.

Love those booties! In your climate, you can wear the rolled pants for a greater part of the year, and they allow fabulous footwear to be seen!

LOVE those little booties. I was soooo bummed that they didn't work for me at NAS, but now I'm glad I'll at least get to see you rocking them The outfit is good, I like the roll with the booties. The light bag could be fine with the jacket open so we see some of the lightness from the top's print; taupe sounds good, too.

Only just picked up on this thread. You could be a jeans model Firecracker because you can wear all the styles, and this one looks great. I also love the jacket, boots and shirt (especially that cool jacket).

I think the bag is okay with the look, and I am very lazy/minimal with my bag choices so I can hardly talk, but I think it is a little on the light side.

Pleased the boots were comfortable and will get lots of outings!

Right, Kelly--it's all about the jacket! That's the ticket. Seriously, these bf chinos feel a bit frumpy to me; I prefer the looks of chinos I have from Caslon and Lucky. The Eddie Bauer ones are more comfy on the calf, though.
