WIW :: Red take on Column of Colour

What else?

Before I go on let me just say Thank you to everyone else who commented on my previous thread and whom I did not address individually, I'm having a lot of new styling ideas to think about following your input.

Today's offerings include:

Photo 1 - I love it when Angie writes something that makes me see my existing new wardrobe in a whole new way. Today's blog post about Column of Colour simply called for this experiment. The sweater is the same top as in the Photo 4 below - it is actually an old red sweater which is rather fitted so can easily serve as a thick tee shirt, and is worn with my new ponte pencil skirt, topped with the contrasting cardigan - my old favorite.
Photo 2 - With the outerwear. Photo 1 + chunky red infinity scarf is a gift from a friend who made it for my birthday a couple of years ago + my amazing long puffer coat (worthy of a praise in a post of its own).
Photo 3 - Just for fun, because I am so intrigued by the post about Avant-garde dress layers, I have wrapped the cardigan around to act as a dress Ok, it's worn over the skirt here, but I will wear it over the jeans, just give me some time
Photo 4 (2 outfits from almost the same ingredients). Yesterday was the last day of the Winter semester at the language school and I decided to wear my red dress. Underneath it I wore an old red sweater as in Photo 1. Grey patterned hose (with some sort of chain link weave to them) and the scarf with the "matching" pattern. I like to wear the two together.
Later in the day I went to pick up my son from his school, so I wore the same top and scarf, but with the skinny jeans.

As I already commented on Angie's blog post, I love and do all the time the column of color trick:-). I see it has got a lot of love form others, too and I like all your interpretations here, BUT OMG! Nr 3 was like I fainted, with a red artsy helmeth! Still YLF in all!

HEHE I love column of red. It's surprising that I love red but have only 1 piece of red sweater in my wardrobe.
I love the asymertical sweater too. I wonder if the Avant grade dress idea works only with asymmetrical hemlines.

This is beautiful on you, Ornella. Really love #1 -- just spectacular. Simple, pure, and yes - playful! I also love the puffer coat version.

I think the sweater works beautifully as your asymmetrical layer in #3. So much fun! I also like the other outfits. You have found your formula, distilled to the essence -- and it works.

I love it when forum members model blog posts for us, good job Ornella!
I think you can switch the tights for a neutral pair if you want a more integral column of color effect.

These are great! Red is such a good color on you. It's also bold and unexpected for a column of color outfit. I absolutely love those patterned tights in the first photos. The scarf in the last photos is a great addition to add some pattern.

bella :: I actually have red tights as well I agree though, 'calmer' tights would have given the cleaner overall look, but I love these and could not resist styling them in a new way.

Absolutely love your "red-spiration". This is the best thing about Angie and YLF isn't it: you don't have to spend a lot of money necessarily buying new things when you can make your current wardrobe work for you- just in unexpected ways.

I really love the jeans outfit - there's something about the layering that is really interesting to my eye. You look great in all of these, of course.

You were made for a column of true red. Love it with and without outerwear! And the tights are just perfect; they add a touch of individuality and fun.

4 is really neat because of how you changed registers by just swapping out one piece and rearranging your scarf. I love seeing how outfits morph throughout a day. Thanks for taking the time to photograph both!

The avant garde wrapping in 3 is marvelous too. I just love Ornella posts.

What great outfits! #1 is fab. I sort of agree with Bella about your tights, but I also adore them like you do and I think they add a playful, fun element.The arty dress over skirt is sublime and your outfits using the same scarf and sweater show easy versatility. You certainly look fab in red!

Red is "so" your colour Ornella. You look incredibly beautiful in it. To my eye the skirt provides the structure and then the draped cardigan provides the "unstructured" arty component. It is a lovely silhouette on you.
