WIW: More Mustard

I’m wearing this to church today. I’m a greeter and so will shake over 100 hands before the service.

EF dress
Fly London Pats
Vintage Coach bag (thrifted)
Vintage Vera scarf

I’ve bought several vintage scarves from Etsy. I think mustard was big about 40 years ago. I’m not sure if this is the best way to wear this scarf. Please advise!

Here are the shoes. I was lucky, they went on sale and Nordstrom gave me the sale price even though I had already ordered them (but not received them).

I think mustard is a great colour, especially with navy.

Wow! lovely shoes. I would wear the scarf as you have it, and may be looser too, and then also perhaps around the bag - that said, I like the way wearing the scarf at the neck brings balance to the outfit.

Such a nice color combination! I am obsessed with mustard, and there are periods when it's impossible to find anything in the range. Now it seems to be coming back... Mustard and blue is always lovely! And I'm another fan of your shoes and purse. The shoes look stylish and super comfy too. Are they as comfy as they look?

JAileen, what does “vintage Vera” mean? Just checking Etsy, I’m thinking you must mean Vera Neumann? Seems amazingly ahead of her time from the scarf photos that I was browsing. Thanks for a new to me discovery.

Mustard Polka dots look great on you. I like the second styling better because I can more clearly see the two inverse polka dotted colors.

3style, thank you. I did mean Vera Neumann, although just her first name is on the scarves. My mother gave me one years ago, and I still have it. I’ve bought a few recently on Etsy. They’re graphic and fairly inexpensive.

I've been thinking about your purse since yesterday.

If I recall correctly, you and I are both Vintage Coach Lovers and Collectors.

This is not a Coach purse design I have seen in my years of shopping and I was wondering how I missed this particular design. I thought I might research later today to see when the top closure arrived on the scene. The shape and size of this purse is divine, by the way.

Here is my real question, when you said mustard yesterday, I saw mustard on my computer screen. Today I am seeing a tanish color. Is the purse a true mustard color like your shoes? I would love to add this color to my collection.

If you have time, could we explore your tactics for seeking out Vintage Coach bags?? I found a few at Goodwill, but have never searched eBay or any other outlet. Perhaps I am missing a golden opportunity?

Sterling, I didn’t know you loved vintage Coach, too. The bag is not the exact same color as the shoes. The front of the shoes is nubuck, and the back is smooth leather. The back is a closer match. I’ll try to take a picture outside in the sunshine so you can see. The bag is a darker more muted color, but it is not tan. Also, it’s 25 years old.

I used to shop at Savers and Goodwill looking for Coach. I hadn’t found any lately, so I have stopped going. Before that, though, I bought quite a few. I also bought a few charcoal grey Coach bags on Etsy. I wanted bags that worked for me, so crossbodies that were big enough, and with nickel hardware.

Here is the bag and the shoes in sunlight. I have not adjusted the photo, so you can see the bag and shoes are mustard, whereas the sandals are less so. And by mustard, I mean Guldens mustard.

LOVE the blue and mustard together. I think I would try the scarf with the knot (bow?) to one side or the other rather than dead center.

I love this, Jaileen! Looks perfect on you. I'm having a real crush on mustard this season, after last wearing it. . . NEVER, EVER, before. I have lots of indigo cotton clothes, from dark navy to palest chambray, and find mustard to be a revelation combined with all of them. I'm still keeping the doses small--my mustard leather Hobo drawstring bag is easiest to manage--but I recommend the experiment to any fabbers who have been avoiding this color. Clearly, it works for you!
