WIW: My mustard complement

#1 - I wore this to a fundraiser for an organization that helps the homeless here. It’s an enormous problem, but I was happy there were so many people in attendance.
Top - J Crew terrier shirt
Pants - EF (thrifted)
Sandals - Naturalizer
Bag - Vintage Coach (thrifted)
I think these pants are too big!

#2 - I wore this to our local community theater.
Top - Chaps (Kohls)
Pants - Lee (Kohls)
Sandals - same
Bag - same

Love the mustard compliment! Yes, the pants in #1 look like they could be a smaller size, but everyone would be looking at the cute shirt and the mustard compliment. Are the EF ones cotton?

I like both tops and I would never have thought of mustard as a neutral but it looks great with both.

Joy, thank you. Yes, the EF pants are all cotton. I’ve stopped losing weight. I think Kohl’s goes down several sizes smaller than me.

Bijou, thank you. JCrew still has a terrier shirt, but in olive now. If I didn’t already have this one, I’d get it. I think the terrier is a wire fox terrier, and I have a Jack Russell and a Scottie, but it’s still pretty cute.

Great use of mustard! It's a color I love but am not liking to wear in large amounts like on a solid-colored top. I think I need it as one color in a print or a similar very small amount. It's that thing Suz said about loving to look at it but not wanting to wear it. I love the way you've paired it with wine and navy, and agree with others that those pants are too big. Maybe you should do a retail research session where you try on some smaller sizes and see how small a size you can fit into...just to get an idea even if you don't' buy.

Naturalizer is one of my favorite go-to brands for shoes. They have moved their esthetic from classic/comfort styles just a little more toward trendy in the last few years which i for one really like. I created finds below for this sandal in multiple colors. I'm on the hunt for this style and may try the one in copper. There are quite a few more colors!

Chris, thank you. I had a mustard top that I wanted to love, but just didn’t, and eventually gave it away. So little bits of mustard in an outfit might be just right.

I love everything about this - and would like to have a group of dark yellow/mustard pieces myself . I'm not much of a Naturalizer fan, but these ones I like - really great looking sandals.

Jane, thank you. When I saw the bag at Goodwill several years ago, I didn’t think it was Coach because I’d never seen that style before. The double strap is just like a bag I bought back in the 80s. At the fundraiser, one woman complimented the bag, and wanted to touch it. The leather is luscious.

Cardiff girl, thank you. The sandals are very comfy, but the white soles are already dirty, wearing them just these two times.

Suz, thank you. I think mustard will also work with grey. I can’t size down the EF pants since I thrifted them. I might try to alter them. They can’t be too snug, though, since they’re all cotton.

Lisa, thank you. These sandals are kind of modern looking, aren’t they? And the mules that Angie recommended are too. I think some of their shoes are good looking and some aren’t. (Why does my mother keep buying those?!) When I was looking for mustard shoes, I soon discovered there aren’t very many, they’re out of my size, they’re $600, or they’re not quite the right color.
