I swear my iPhone camera is going bad -- pics lately seem pretty awful, so I'm sorry for the crappy quality.I grabbed these photos quickly yesterday and only now realized how bad and grainy they are.

I had some work to do and then an opening of a large group show to attend (I am one of the exhibiting artists). I knew it would be very crowded and warm but also low-key casual, so I didn't dress "up." I tried a couple of combinations with silk tops but those ended up feeling too dressy. Enter the drapey tee I got in Amsterdam. I love the birds and hidden animals in it. The heeled sandals dressed it up just a little bit. I was also going to see a friend play music at a pub after the art reception, so I really wanted casual and comfortable. This worked and I felt pretty good in it, considering I'm sick of dressing for summer and really would have preferred jeans and boots yesterday.

Nothing earth shattering, just my dog days of summer reality. Comments & suggestions always welcome.

Creative but low-key -- seems like the right combination for exhibiting [congrats!] then the pub/music.

Love the way the shoe design echos the strokes in the T!

ps I was a bit over the heat but we've plunged into gloomy weather and I'm scrambling for my Vitamin D supplements. Hope you get to enjoy a nice long beautiful fall before winter!

Thanks! Vix, "creative but low-key" was exactly what I was going for -- thank you for articulating it so well. That resonates with me.

Sterling, the heels on those sandals are about 2.25" -- perfect for me. I have literally walked miles in a day in those shoes, even through a rainstorm, and they are wearing like iron. In fact, I've wondered about finding some alternative pair of black or dark sandals to take some of the pressure off of this pair, because I fear they day they wear out. However, this is my third summer of wearing them, they are by far the most expensive sandals I've bought, and yet they have been worth every penny. I get compliments every. single. time. I wear them. They dress up or down so well. If someone told me I had to give away all but one pair of summer sandals, I'd keep these.

Heh, thanks for noticing the way the sandal straps echo the lines in the tee. I thought of that as soon as I put the tee on. I like the idea of a subtle repeat of shape or texture in an outfit, so these little details always make me smile. I'm glad there is an audience here who appreciates it.

I know I'm gushing about those sandals, but another thing that makes them so versatile for me is the way they have a delicate component in the straps, but also a heavier component in the solid back and the wedge heel. That makes them wearable with everything from shorts to skirts to capris. So many other styles seem either delicate OR sturdy, and somehow this style manages to marry the two.

Perfect vibe for your occasion Janet! I love the bookending of the lines in the tee (which is awesome) and the laces of the heels...just brilliant. My poor Tamitha backpack hasn't had many outings this year since I pared down and am doing more clutch carrying. It's amazing how much stuff you can fit into it, isn't it? Almost an overnight bag for me these days.

Amazing outfit, Janet. I really love this tee! The outfit looks understated, creative yet effortless....I think it's the way your gorgeous sandals complement the tee, with the skirt working as the perfect monotone 'bridge' between the two. The cobalt backpack adds a bright pop of colour ---- understated elegance at its best---and achieved while wearing a tshirt!!! Kudos!

For the camera - have you cleaned the camera lens recently? I thought my camera was awful until my boyfriend pointed out the oil smudged on the lens. The photos look fine to me, though.

This is hardly what I was expecting - if you are miserable about the weather, you certainly don't look it! I love that tee but you must have bought it in Europe?
