WIW: Is this oldie still a goody? UPDATE

UPDATE: After wearing this dress for the day, I'm just not happy. It makes me feel frumpy somehow, even though I know it''s not that bad. I would feel better if I had more of a waist to show off. Sigh.

This Nine West sweaterdress was purchased early in my YLF life. It is COLD today - there is frost on the ground. And Shannon inspired me to try some cozy fall colors. It's warm, it's comfy, and it fits.

Is it too short? Dated? Unflattering? Does it look okay with these fringed flat ankle boots? I don't want to do heels unless I wear tights, and I can't quite bear the thought of tights this early in the season.

I feel like I look mildly preggo, though it could be how I'm standing. I'm skinnier than when I bought it, though.

I love it. I've always been a fan of this Missoni-like stripe print. The colorblocking is perfect for your figure, as well, making the focus on the lower half of the dress.
Frost? I don't know if I remember what that is . . .

How do you feel in it? You look great, but slightly more bohemian than the newer things you've bought (leather jackets, Equipment shirts, bf jeans, etc).

I love it, I think the Missoni vibe makes it classic. Great job pairing it with the fringe booties.

What about adding some red accessories (or cobalt)? I've seen MaryK pair black outfits with POC accessories in red and it's looked fantastic. I plan on copying her, once I fill the "hole" of no (or no current looking) bags.

Oh, do try the burgundy boots! :o) A little jolt of colour somewhere here would be great. And with black and white, you can try just about any colour you've got. How about a turquoise blue studded leather bracelet? LOL!

Have you tried a wide belt? You look great but empire waists are a different look no doubt. I have purged a few myself but one worked with a belt.

I'm puzzled why you feel frumpy, I think you look fantastic. The dress is certainly not too short and looks great as you wear it, bear legged. But if your not comfortable in it, then it should probably go:(

I think it's a combination of the browns in the dress (not my favorite color on me) and the clinginess - after lunch I just felt too bulgy and lumpy. It's all in my head, I'm sure. Shannon, having gone through your recent BF travails, I know you understand psychological discomfort in something that might objectively look good.

I have a friend who will love this dress, and brown is her color. Off it goes to make someone else happy.

Thanks for the input and reassurance, YLF - because I did wear this all day!

Love the boots! (Had to say that first.) The dress is perfectly flattering on you, but you are not feeling it and you have a friend who would. I say pass it on, and show us more outfits with the boots!

I like this dress on you with the shoes you have on-but cannot feel what you are feeling wearing it:-((, in fact I have a quite similar one black knitted with taupe and blue fine missonilike zigzags,from M&S this spring, where the stripes are only from waist down, will wear it ia lot in winter with taupe booties.
