Just got home from a magical time in France — a couple of brief days in Paris, then a week in a wonderful rented house (ok, an estate!) in Provence as part of an artist retreat , and then a few days of solo exploration before I made the trip back home.
It was a wonderful chance to disconnect from hectic life and worries here in the States, to connect with a group of truly wonderful photographers, see some of the photo festival exhibitions in Arles, and have some of my valued solitary travel time. I can’t say I took as many “art” photos as I planned, but the experience as a whole was inspiring and thought-provoking in many ways. It was a huge gift to spend the time with some wonderful artists, especially the woman who put the trip together, who is truly an influential force in the art photography world. I am so fortunate.
A took a couple of outfit photos. It was hot, and my outfits were loose and breezy. Some days were more outdoorsy and leaned more gear-ish, others more wandering the towns and markets. It seems I have embraced linen — I even bought a sage green linen midi skirt at a market and love it!
I managed to use everything I packed, multiple times, with only one exception — a pair of shorts I never bothered with. I could have done without one bag I packed because I ended up buying the little packable bag in pic 3 at a market in Paris, and I used it every day afterward!
I bought just a few things, which I’ll share in another post. A pair of sandals, the aforementioned bag, another bag that seems very Issey Miyake inspired, and some inexpensive scarves, necklace, and bracelet. No ring! It’s a first!
1-3 some typical outfits
4-11 Paris
12-27 scenes from the week with the group around Provence
28- on my own exploring Les Baux, Bonnieux, Roussilon, and L’Isle Sur La Sorgue
Sorry for the big photo dump, but I thought some fellow travelers would appreciate a taste of the experience. These are all iPhone photos. More comfortable to wander the streets with the phone than the larger Nikon. Lots of truly beautiful and delicious experiences!
