WIW: hey, I didn't sign up for the "classic" look

But somehow that's happening. For now it's okay; at least I look pulled together and my stuff is getting frequent wear. In my head I think of myself with my edgy-romantic look (most of the clothes for this look are imaginary for now), but this is where I kind of am.

Jacket: AT
blouse: Foxcroft from Nordies. I have one white, one blue, one grey. Like 'em.
T: J. Crew
Boots: Born
Jeans: thrifted. Now that I'm looking at this pic, I will have to let them go. They are stretched or bagging out in the thigh and horribly frayed. Bootcuts!!!!

This is classic-Mochi. You are take a "style" and personalizing it really well. In no way do I want to call you "Muffy" or expect to see you chairing the PTO (not, to quote Seinfeld) that there's anything wrong with that).

You've been mastering soft-tonal looks --- I look to you for ideas.

This is a classic look - and you look terrific in it. These are such stylish, beautiful colors too. I hear you about the jeans (it's got to be a pain in wet weather, especially), but I like that frayed look a lot. If you like the fit, I am wondering if snipping off the hanging threads will keep the jeans going for a little bit longer. I have a pair of grey bootcuts that I like a lot, and that's what I just did to them...

You may not have signed up for the classic look but I like it! This combination looks great on you. Lol at your comment about most of the clothes for your edgy romantic style persona being imaginary for now.

This actually reads as edgy-romantic to me -- your gorgeous curls and the soft water colors look romantic, and the distressed jeans and boots provide a bit of edge. The first things that popped into my head when looking at this were: I love the jeans! I gotta get a pair of distressed jeans!

Also wanted to reply on your other thread about being able to wear heels. Before I started exercising I was completely unable to wear heels. I just did not have the balance or, I can only suppose, the strength. Now I wear a chunky or well set heel very easily. So you would be surprised!

I love this look on you! Perhaps a pop of color would help make it less preppy? Maybe a tangerine arm candy or belt?

I actually like that the jeans are so worn and easy -- they rough up the classic components of the outfit. Grey looks great on you, too.

I know exactly what you mean. I am trying to push myself so my new stuff is edgier, but it's a slow process on a budget -

There is lots of modern flair here, Nancy. Rugged from the waist down. Classic from the waist up. MODERN. Current. This is it.

Plus, you must remember that your curly hair automatically adds that romantic touch no matter what you wear!

Agree that the frayed jeans actually add edge to this look, and your curls add the romantic. I think this looks great and you should just re-label it for yourself.

Thank you, everyone. Getting Angie's Seal of Approval and you all's positive feedback is always great. The jeans will get a reprieve, then. And this little exercise made me think about what "romantic" means to me; I just posted my thoughts on this.

From a self confessed Modern Classic... I love this:) I think you are mixing quite a few elements here and they look great. I find the grungy jeans add a bit of edge to the mix and as mentioned your curls add that hint of romantic. The foundation of the outfit may be modern classic but I think you have made the look totally yours.

There's a rebel in the jeans, a romantic in the cut and colour of the jacket, a devil-may-care insouciance in the tumbling curls... as a non-classic persona myself, this is certainly NOT too classic for me! I think you look magnificent!

I think this pushes the boundaries of classic. I love the frayed jeans on you actually. All you need is a lace jabot! Do you have any velvet jackets? I remember that Boden coat you were looking at last year, did you end up getting it?

modgrl, I am holding onto the jeans for now, since I got a resounding positive response. I am so used to skinnies and how they fit now, so I saw looseness in the thigh and my fab-o-meter went out of whack, apparently.
