WIW: Hello? Is it Spring you're looking for...?

Hello again YLFers --

[I'm pretty much limited to non-ideal selfies right now. Sorry for weird proportions]

It's cold temps and rain here and like many (including the poor beleaguered blossoms) I'm over it.

WHAT DO WE WANT? SPRING!
WHEN DO WE WANT IT? NOW!

I have some new combos I'm eager to try but...no way. Below are a few of the semi-seasonal looks I've been able to do without freezing.

Thanks for getting me inspired!

Photo 1: Blue silk/wool turtleneck + blue silk print top (knotted) over black jersey sheath

Photo 2: Abstract print bomber jacket post-alterations + deep green rouched jersey skirt

Photo 3: Jacket stock photo, which didn't really capture the boxy and blouse-y before. I had side seams taken in a bit, pockets sewn shut, and er, facing? (thing abutting zipper) removed so that when I wear it partially unzipped I get a V neckline

Photo 4: Repeat of green jersey skirt + Pucci-by-the-yard scarf in hair + sheer black textured banded-bottom top + wool sweater underneath!

All gorgeous. What is Pucci-by-the-yard? I like the blue silk shirt and the altered bomber the best. I'm impressed by your alterations? Mine involve hand-sewing hems and sleeve cuffs is all.

OOooh!! That blue top in #1 is stunning on you. Love with the hair! Don't you find that patterns with bits of white, light grey, or very pale blue are fabulous with the grey? They work in a whole new way. I am no longer buying any pattern that does not include some "light" tone like that.

Love the abstract print bomber, too. Gorgeous.

Jenni Z -- Thank you! I can't sew but I do wield a mean hand with binder clips so luckily can collaborate with talented tailors on the more intense alterations! Pucci-by-the-yard was my shorthand for saying the scarf is made from authentic Pucci silk but not a Pucci. It's insanely heavy/luxe...I can't imagine wearing clothing made from it. [Who am I kidding? Of course I can. ;)]

Long version: Several years ago when I was in the fabric shops a lot I spied the bolt, fell in love etc (habit of mine). But even as a remnant bolt is was $100/yard! A year later it was "clearance" priced at around $45/yd. So I bought a tiny amount and had it sewn into what you see here.

Angie -- Thank you! Waving to you from sodden lands. The Hair prefers dry weather so right now a bit fed up with it but overall ready to celebrate 3 years dye-free soon. Feeling the need for patterns right now and luckily the top and bomber were someone else's "trash" [secondhand purchase] and my treasure.

Jussie and Cardiff Girl -- Thank you both! The last several months have seen me way too casual for my tastes and it was getting me down. Luckily IRL I have a few friends who noticed and said I should make the push to glam up a bit. CG I'm ready for my convertible ride in Cannes...Mr Vix might throw up on those curves, though!

Mainelady -- Thank you! As you know I'm not that far ahead of you with the hair...you'll be there soon and it's a fun adventure! Looking forward to seeing what your twin-sister-shopping yields. You see I had to buy my own blue sky!

Suz -- Thank you and yes! Luckily before I stopped dying I started buying prints with light tones to extend their seasonal use. So I still have a few favorites in the closet to help out. But for new prints I find lighter notes are more a necessity than an option.

Janet -- Well thank you but this natural lighting spot makes my skin look better (pores blown out!) and hair worse (more coarse). I'm very conflicted, ha. Both are a bit further from the extremes but yes I am an SPF 50 woman. You know I think you'd look awesome with your natural colors so if you jump we'll catch ya!

I will say the skin thing is why I'm pretty rabid about finding and wearing colors that flatter!
