WIW: dog edition (for Inge and JAileen)

As much as I love my new clogs, I'm all about dogs. Here's our foster fail going on 7 years last weekend at the beach. The director of the rescue I volunteered for at the time had called me with a special request. The owner was heart broken about it but had to surrender Oreo--she had chronic ear and skin infections that they just couldn't get under control. She was a stinky mess when we got her--ear drops, medicated baths for months. When she was finally healthy, several potential adopters expressed interest but no one pulled the trigger. My husband didn't want her to feel rejected so he said, enough! Let's just keep her. So here she is, part of our family. Sleeps in our bed. Spoiled rotten, I suppose...

Hahahaha! I love this! You are wonderful to foster dogs. And Oreo is lucky to have you. And you him. And you’re both lucky it’s warm enough to go to the beach!

Both of our dogs are “used”. Bob Barker was a stray as a puppy, and Mr Skunky was given to us by a woman with a terminal illness. Here’s Bob after getting a bath and blowout this week, and Mr Skunky in his conehead again. He’s having surgery next week for a benign tumor in his paw. Fingers crossed it goes well.

Did someone say spoiled dog who sleeps in the bed?? Sunny takes over when my husband isn’t home! Woody likes to sleep on the chaise in the sunshine.

You look fantastic and Oreo is adorable and so lucky to have you as a family! Our catahoulas were both sort of runt-of-the-litter rejects in Louisiana, and my husband got both of them (at two different times) without my input, justifying them as ranch dogs. We still had our two pugs at the time (and I still miss them so much, and swear we will get another pug someday). Clearly the photo indicates that these supposed rugged ranch dogs have become totally soft and domesticated east coast house pets!

Aww! Y’all’s looking beautiful!

Lilypup was a rescue from a high-kill shelter. She was so frightened. She was the dog cowering at the back of the pen. Poor puppo. Also: the rescue people called her ‘Booby’ - so she would not come when called. ROFL.

Oreo is too cute, and I love your story--foster "fails" are the best kind of failures! I love seeing all of the pups on this thread. When I used to post a lot more on YLF, my pup was sometimes featured in my WIWs. He died a few years ago (still not over it!) and we now have a new pup. Both are rescues, and scruffers.

Oreo is just the sweetest!! (Look at that happy face, she clearly loves her Mummy!). She found the best home with you and your husband!! Thanks so much for sharing her story and for starting this thread.

This is me and Felix this morning, lounging on the couch after a bit of a sleepless night (had to get up and take him out a couple of times because he had an upset tummy, all good again now). Felix is 2 1/2 now and has severe separation anxiety. He cannot be left at home alone at all and is hyper attached to me. We are working on it, it's often very challenging, but I love him to the moon and back, and just want him to be happy and as anxiety-free as possible.

P.S. Love your bathing suit and your pretty beach towel.

Wow gorgeous lady and doggy! I really love the scruffy dogs, they are my favourite. I have two little kids at the moment so all we could handle is a hamster but she is spoilt and I would like a dog in the future. I grew up with a lot of pets so would like the same for my kids.

Love seeing all these cuties! We have cats right now but will add dogs eventually, and I grew up with dogs. We were a pug family too, Janet Here’s a pic of our last pug, Merlin. I have a memorial tattoo of him and our first cat.

Awwwwww! Your story and all these cute doggies are make me want a puppy! As it is we have three (3!) cats that moved in from the street, so that will not be happening anytime soon. Only one is allowed in our bedroom though.

I don't have a dog even though I love them and used to volunteer at the SPCA (animal shelter ) as a teen so I could walk them. But I have adopted a cat inadvertently since I was on here last. I found a little 3 week old kitten with the flu in the middle of the road in the less salubrious part of town in 2018. Here is the day after I found her in pic 1 and now in pic 2 and 3

Wonderful photos KG. You are both very photogenic! I’m glad Oreo found such a great forever home.

Ms B is also a rescue. She was on death row at a pound and was rescued by a local rescue organisation. She failed her first trial home but found her forever home with us. We just love her to bits. It’s been warm today but she’s had 3 walks and lots of sleep.

Awww- love your foster fail, and jealous you can be at the beach! Love seeing all the doggos and kitty!

Here's Beau and Tilly. We were doggie sitting when my inlaws were both in hospital last month. Tilly is wth my dear Cardamon (RIP). He just passed of liver cancer on Friday and is joining MIL (also cancer)

Kelly, you and Oreo look wonderful. Margot my Westie likes to sleep on a pillow behind my head. Margot is a retired breeder, she had about 5 litters before the very responsible breeder let her stop breeding at 6 years old and join our family. Margot is angelic except at feeding time when she gets super excited bounces around and barks her head off, her food is eaten and gone in an instant.

Great pictures, Kellygirl! Kudos to Mr. Kellygirl for being tender hearted and congratulations to Oreo for striking gold with her forever home. My husband has facetiously offered our pugs to any number of people, but he would never follow through - see photo 1 with our Abby who we sadly let go in February.

3. Our other strange little man - we have several photos of him standing over Abby like this. The holistic vet they see feels he was her caretaker.
