WIW: Doc Danielle's

Today is the unveiling of my new animal print Doc Danielle's. This outfit is a fairly simple combination but that's kind of what I like about it. I'm wearing a newly thrifted ponte knit black sheath dress (my Pure by Alfred Sung sheath finally died last week after 4 years of hard wearing), my cognac leather jacket (it's definitely cold enough here today for it), nude micro fishnets, my animal print Docs and my dotty cross body bag. Not a lot of colour today but I like the ensemble.

How does this look to your eye? Colours and proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Really cute neutral outfit Shannon. I am liking those shoes on you and that bag is super cute.

We were spoiled by our week of warm weather and it is hard to go back to warmer clothes and shoes now, isn't it?

I love those shoes and I extra-love them on you! That warm cognac of the jacket plays very nicely with the shoes. And the non-matchy bag works beautifully. Fabulously simple outfit that lets the standout pieces shine.

(ETA I try hard not to make personal comments on people's appearance/s but those shoes and that dress are telling me you've got some nice pins, girl!)

Hello shoes!! What a great home they have found with you!! The combination of the cognac jacket and shoes is just perfect. I like this length skirt on you too. I can see the shoe and jacket combo with esprit pants too. That would be pretty!

Super outfit - very flattering colours and great pattern mixing. I also like the length of the dress on you - it really shows off the shape of your legs. Would you ever consider shortening some of your other skirts to this length or maybe just an touch longer?

Fruitful - "nice pins" - love it! Now that I'm back into my running the legs seem to be getting some shape back to them. Thanks for noticing!

Rita & missvee - it's interesting you both commented on the length of my dress because when I thrifted it yesterday the first thing I thought when I tried it on was "I like the way my legs show in this dress". Although I'm definitely in love with midis these days and some of my dresses/skirts won't shorten well (lose the overall shape) I may consider shortening a couple of skirts by an inch or so. Will definitely be giving this some thought.

I love the Danielles! They act as a nude on you, making those *pins* look long as well as shapely, lol! They look great with your leather jacket too. I'm incredulous that you can thrift the perfect LBD, already at the perfect length for you. You look terrific, and why not have a variety of skirt lengths in your closet? They're all nice, for different reasons.

biscuitsmom - I got this cognac jacket (and it's navy blue twin) from Revolutions (a chain in Canada). I got them just before Christmas on a clearance rack as they were fall 2011 stock. I'm afraid you won't have too much luck finding

EEEP! Love the new docs! This is definitely a "strong and simple" outfit - not a lot of pieces, but each piece speaks for itself. I'm loving the tonal brown thing you have going on with the booties, cognac jacket, and beige bag. The contrast of wild and ladylike dots totally feels like you!

This is a great outfit, Shannon. It may be neutral in color but it has enough texture and pattern in to be interesting.
I LOVE your new docs: actually I love them more that those black and white ones. I guess I am really weak where animal print is concerned

Simple is not Boring! The jacket plays off the shoes well and pairing the shoe with a great, easy LBD shows them off. Nice!

This is the perfect way to let the shoes steal the show! Very hip and a little different than your usual colorful style, but just as fab.

I really love this. That jacket is divine on you. I'd love to see the new sheath without the jacket (it looks like it might have some detailing? buckles?). I like how the carmel color of the jacket is repeated in the heels of the oxfords, but the shoe itself isn't matchy.

Sveta - these are now without a doubt, my favourite Docs! Not only because I adore the print and colours, but because they came through Rita - so they're special to me!

Elly - the detail you see peeking out from the behind the jacket on the dress is the waistband. The LBD has an inch and half wide waistband in the same fabric as the dress and then every 4 inches or so, there is large sized silver grommet on the waistband. It's like wearing a belt without a belt!

Denise - thank you for the comment about my happy expressions. What can I say? I'm just generally a pretty happy person!
