I was so taken with Claire's rule-breaking denim on denim look that I copied it. Literally.

Claire, I hope you will forgive me and know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I love this leopard print scarf which has a bit of blue-grey in it, perfect for Claire's colouring (and I hope, mine). And the denim jacket is now my SECOND one. I was wearing jacket number one so much that I decided two was not an extravagance, but a necessity. This one is darker wash, less worn, with silvery/black hardward (vs. copper), a Chanel-type collar vs. a shirt style collar. Denim is really one of my neutrals.

I'm afraid I lack Claire's amazing leopard print shoes. Alas.

PS I didn't really wear it. I tried it on and realized I would be far too hot and after the pics had to do change.

Love this outfit (on both of you). I assume it's done best if the denim on the jacket and the jeans is NOT the same shade (i.e. one darker than the other)?

Yes, I think the consensus with Claire's look was it works best if the denims are a bit different wash. I think I'd agree with that. In this case, the scarf breaks it up a lot anyway.

Yay! You received your jacket! It looks fabulous on youl Are those the black jeans with it? That's probably a good idea to do a different color of denim entirely.

The scarf looks GREAT with your coloring, too. I love mixed neutrals. And I was just thinking the other day that dark denim must be one of my main neutrals!

Loved Claire's look and love yours too! Even though it was too hot, you should keep this look in your back pocket for a fall day hen you need to put together an outfit quickly.

Oh, Claire, I'm glad you're not insulted! My jeans aren't black; just a different, even darker rinse. The flash went off. IRL the jacket doesn't look quite as washed out or the jeans quite as dark, but they are still very definitely different.

Haha! I just got back from shopping with my friend--we got her all sorted for the wedding (but she won't let me post pics of her)

As we were heading home, we took a look inside Old Navy because SHE liked the denim jacket too! And she bought one: good news, it is now 50% off ($19.99 US). They said they would give me a price adjustment if I bring in my receipt, yay! i should be earning commmisions on that jacket!

You definitely should be earning a commission. I saw that jacket in the store and thought, yeah, okay, so-so. Didn't even try it on. It was only after I saw you wearing it that I recognized its fabness!
