WIW: Bold Dress+Topper

When I first showed this dress to you guys on YLF ----asking if I should keep it (the colours feel too bold for my taste), a lot of you voted that I keep it....and wear it with some topper. We decided my cropped denim vest might be a good choice, but it with the tailor at that time, and I couldn't try the two together.

So here I am, tryin it out with the denim vest and 2 other options. Do any of these work?

Looking forward to your thoughts/feedback.

1-3: With Cropped Denim Vest
4-5: With Cropped Blue Shrug
6-7: With Black Shrug

Lovely! I adore the version with the vest best. The black cardi is very elegant also but not as keen on the blue shrug:). How do you feel on the dress now?

Wow Deborah....you're again the first one to see this thread! I remember you were the first one to convince me to keep this dress too....and suggest the vest

I am really liking the dress with the denim vest. I think that can be a good outfit. I love the black shrug too, and would possibly add black sandals with ankle strap.

I like it best with the vest too. The two pieces just seem to work together in terms of color and I like that the faded denim adds a casual element.

I can't remember who it was this morning but there was a WIW with a sweater over a dress that made the dress look like a skirt. I will look for it in a minute and edit if I find it. I thought of it immediately when I saw this pic. It had a beautiful shape and I think something similar would look fab with this dress for cooler weather.

Oh I know that one Cheryle.....that was Brooklyn who was wearing a lovely sweater over a dress to turn it into a skirt....worn with boots.

I'm totally going to do that myself for all possible dresses this winter!

Viva also added the sweater as a find. I think it works well over a dress because of the angled hem which is interesting and flattering.

Yes, I love this option. I don't have an angled sweater anymore, I think. I used to have the same thing in black....but I passed it on, I think.

I may be able to find something suitable for this dress too.

Love with the vest!! The vest effectively de-bombshells the look and increases the fun factor. It's really great on you!

Oh, and I LOVE your new hair!! I haven't been on much due to travels and somehow missed the cut. It's absolutely stunning.

I like the vest option the best, card isn't bad either, but the shrug is a no for me.
I also like the idea of covering up with something on the top and making it look like a skirt....i guess you could do that with a nice crop top in this weather until winters arrive ... remember my mango crop top you love...maybe try something like that on top and see?

I like the vest best too. But I like that sweater over the dress idea too. Ha ha! You could definitely do something similar with a crop top or summer weight knit top eg a short sleeve cotton knit.

It's a win with the vest--especially when you wear those shoes to complete the look. I just noticed how lovely the neckline of the dress is on you. I also like Cheryle's idea of topping it to create a skirt look, since the dress is fitted.

Brooklyn - I do love your turn-dress-into-skirt trick. In fact, I was planning on trying it soon to turn a very bombshell-y tube dress into a skirt look!

The colour and pattern are too bold for me; I bought it for a vacation to Maldives where bright prints and short,tight dresses are cool...not so much back home But since I want to be able to wear most of my wardrobe, I'm glad there is now a way to wear it

I found one just like my mango.... so go to Myntra and type Elle Black Crop Top and that's it.
It's a tad bit shorter than the one I have but should work for the look you're going for ☺

Wow! Love the dress on you. The vest and black cardigan are lovely over it. I'm not quite so keen on the light coloured shrug though. Lurve the sandals. You look lovely!

I love it with the vest and also like the black sweater. I agree- a black cropped crochet or lace top might be really fun, with a cropped sweater if you are still wearing it later.

Thanks Jenn. I definitely do feel better with something over the dress. It was the bold print and the high bombshell effect of the dress that was making it really hard to wear it for my real life. This, now, is very wearable.
