(I was checking to see if I could hit a character limit on thread post titles… )
I say this in every post, but I’ve been obsessed with All Things Ralph Lauren since I saw their Spring/Summer ‘21 collection film feat. Janelle Monae. For summer, I was all about their safari, nautical and 1930s aesthetics, and worked at piecing together capsules.
For fall, I’ve been shopping thrift, consignment and my own closet for equestrian pieces, a la Ralph. TBH, I wasn’t sure whether Equestrian was something you really wear if you’re not riding, or about to ride a horse, so I was very excited to see Angie’s post today. Nobody rocks an equestrian look like Angie! (I still sigh over those Smythe blazers).
These are my WIWs yesterday. Temperature-wise, the day and the evening were two entirely different creatures: 65F at noon, 40F by 9pm.
My basic outfit was a tan pencil skirt and a spruce-color cashmere sweater.
#1: WIW for dinner out last night: Skirt + top, skin-colored tights, equestrian-style heeled boots and belt. Dark teal wool jacket, and tiny leather bag. I was representing both my grandmas with the turquoise bracelet, sparkly ring, and antique pewter rose pin.
I wasn’t certain about mixing the dark teal and spruce, but I thought about Janet and Brooklyn, and how they mix their teals and blues so beautifully, and was inspired ❤️
I knew I wanted something special for Katerina’s outerwear challenge, because she always sets the bar so high! The rose pin popped into my head because I was listening to Rachmaninov and was feeling the grandeur for my coat.
#2: WIW earlier yesterday, to record for my friend’s YouTube music channel: skirt + sweater, nude pumps and belt. I wore nude fishnet tights. I wore the pashmina for a bit, but took it off because it was too warm. I popped my tiny purse into a bigger tote along with music, makeup bag, and water bottle.
#3: Everything I wore or carried yesterday, minus legwear).
#4 Closer look at the accessories
With the exception of underpinnings, hosiery and earrings, everything I’m wearing was thrifted, gifted, or eBay’d, and secondhand.
