WIW: A mismash of Khakis and Vest

I wanted to wear my new Gap khakis today .... with the black vest but it looked frumpy with flats of all kinds (And I was in no mood for heels today to run errands). Then I was digging for casual fluid white/gray tee. No I don't have one(!) Gladiators - No luck yet. Nothing that fits this super low volume feet. Brown/Cognac handbag - No.

Then I ran short of time and this is what I came up with. Meh ... but I have to post it anyway! I tried too hard to re-create the ensemble. LOL!

So khakis (Gap) with oversized graphic tee (Mango/old), olive sequined vest (Mango/old) and pewter loafers (cheapie) it is! Black studded tote (Steve Madden/old) because I did not have the time to switch bags! I am not sure how this turned out. My happiness factor is always low in low contrast neutral outfits. But I was comfy and cool.

So I am up for suggestions for improvements! Thank you for looking and commenting as always

P.S Sorry for the headless pics. I was a bit frazzled after the trip.

ETA: Do these khakis look a tad too roomy? I had to pull it up all the while to keep it in place (a belt can fix that). A size down would be a bit too snug around the tummy causing a muffin top, I think. Does the fit look off to you?

I think the fit looks just right and really like the low contrast combo and the use of the sequined vest to add a bit of sparkle/shine to the laid back look. YLF!

I think the outfit came together rather nicely. The metallic flats echo the sequins on the vest and colours are harmonious all over. The fit of khakis looks good to me. I have the same khakis in olive and I sized up for a roomier fit.

Thank you everyone! I think the linen version in the same size fits me much better. Anyways .. Too late now that I have ripped the tags and worn it already. I will enjoy them and call them my slouchy khakis

I love the way it looks but I can relate to how the khakis *feel* because my Gap khakis had this same effect for me. The shoes and metallic shine of the vest are brilliant together - love that!

Well, I read through your description and was expecting to see a really blah outfit, esp as I know how _I_ feel in low contrast neutrls. But no such luck - I really really like this! It reminds me of Angie's "white out" except you're not really white. So many neutrals of different tones and textures that it works wonderfully. The only thing a bit out of place is the black bag.

I think the fit of the pants is fine. Looks just like the model Sometimes a gal needs a belt!

Aww thank you lovely ones! I am a bit at ease now about the pants.

But truth be told, I wasn't really happy with the outfit for some reason. Felt a bit *sloppy*. Could be because this is the first pair of khakis for me and I might take time to get used to the thickish material.

I like the pants, definitely looks like a slouchy khaki. Use a belt, it will help with the feel LOVE the metallic loafers with this, very nice touch of glam. I think I'd prefer this without the vest to keep the look a bit more streamlined which might also help combat the baggy feel. And then semi-tuck the shirt to show off the belt and add a little more structure. I too have trouble with slouchy khakis, yet other slouchy pants are OK. I think you're onto something about it being something to do with the thicker fabric. For that reason, I bought slimmer relaxed khakis instead of a truly oversized pair.

This works! All the colors play very nicely together and the slouchy fit of the khakis looks right to my eyes. Perhaps a metallic belt will help with the loose feel of the khakis. I think the black studded bag adds a pop of contrast to the outfit and I know it's bookending your hair.
