WIW 5/6: Cobalt and checks

Not sure this is a home run, and maybe you all can help me figure out why.

Checked ankle pants: Banana Republic
Black tee: don't remember
Cobalt blazer: Eliza J
Ivory and blue pumps: Seychelles
Black clutch: Topshop

I'm thinking about changing into black shoes... your thoughts?

ETA: I'm going with the black. The fancier shoes seemed like they were fighting the checked pants to me. Do you agree?

Oh yeah, the black looks way more streamlined, no fighting going on.

The first shoes are too "busy" and visually clash with the pants. I'd still like to see another pair of shoes as the black ones look too heavy; maybe some shoe shopping on lunch-hour today?

So funny. Looking at the photos from my office (with black shoes on feet), and reading Angie's comment, the light shoes look fine. LOL Maybe I'll change before my after-work social hour.

Yep, I like the lighter shoes too. I think the outfit with the lighter shoes would look fantastic without the jacket. Overall I think it is a great outfit.

With the black shoes you look so sleek and sophisticated!

The proportions are different -- with shorter pants and longer jacket. I don't think that's bad, and I expect we'll be seeing more silhouettes like this in future. It's just new to my eyes. I like it with heels, but with flats, I think a shorter jacket would work better -- although with your legs, anything works!

Actually Iiked the fancy shoes better the - I thought the criss cross of the shoes echoed the check of the pants. The black shoes look more business like. What Great outfit it's a real knockout - love that cobalt jacket.

I like this outfit with the black shoes - but I love the combo of the light shoes and pants (pattern echo as harmonica says) - I just think I would like it better with a different top half (not black and cobalt but maybe taupe or cream or???). Consider it a challenge of a reverse sort to incorporate less colour!

Looking at all the wonderful outfits Fabbers are making with those BR window paned ankle pants, I feel deprived (my own fault for not jumping to get them). I like both choices of shoes.

So interesting to see the divergence of opinion on the shoes! Just goes to show how subjective this whole thing is!

And it's funny but I don't think I would ever have picked out these pants for myself -- but Rae had them at last year's Shoptoberfest and was going to return them if nobody wanted to take them off her hands. I tried them on and it was love at first sight! They've been wardrobe workhorses ever since, and I think of my buddy Rae every time I wear them, which makes 'em even more special!

I so love these pants on you (I cannot believe I'm saying that about cropped length!) that today, when I spotted something similar in H&M I actually tried them on. Cropped of all things. I had visions of thread titles "Inspired by MaryK and Vicki", alas I'm too big girl for the sizes available... *sob*... but I can always love them on you, right, right?

FWIW, I prefer the pointy black shoes.

I prefer the black shoes myself. In the first outfit, my eyes keep jumping from the shoes to the pants and back to the shoes and... So I get stuck, since there appear to be two focal points. In the second outfit, the pants are the main focal point, and that's easier for my brain to process.

Fun outfit that can be changed up so easily just by switching up shoes! Don't you have a pair of black cage sandals? They might up the edginess factor.
