WIW 12/07: Orange and burgundy

I mentioned yesterday that I was planning a colourful outfit for today, and here it is.

Burgundy faux leather pants - Laundry
Orange sweater - French Connection
Burgundy oxfords - Ecco
Blazer - men’s, thrifted

The thrifted menswear blazer is an experiment. I’m toying with the shoulder proportion and length, plus I’ve always loved the variety of rich, subtle pattern that seems much more readily available in menswear. If this works, it’s a low cost, low risk way to beef up my work wardrobe with jackets I won’t hesitate to wear casually, too.

Oh, this is great! It’s not what I expected, but who says we have to always do the same thing? I’d rather have fun and play with different looks. The colors are great, the combo is great, your hair is great… Nice low -contrast shoes too

The orange jumper with the burgundy bottoms is a KILLER pairing! Nice slouch and fits. Match your old red specs

The thrifted oversized blazer is on trend and works! I see a sleeve cuff to showcase some lining if it's fun lining....

if you wanted to tweak it a smidge, .i might try cuffing the sleeves of the blazer to give it an even more casual feel

This is fabulous. I love the orange with burgundy. Those are great pants, too. Where did you pick them up?

The blazer looks terrific, too. I'd roll the sleeves, maybe? Can we see a closeup of the tweed?

I love the color combo, the richness of the textural mix, and the thrifted men's jacket! It looks fab! I too love men's blazers because they have sleeves that are long enough for me, and they come in all sorts of fab "menswear" patterns like tweed, herringbone, glen plaid, etc.

Since you’re workshopping, and inviting comments…I’d suggest one size down in the jacket. Oversized, but not over-oversized IYKWIM.

FWIW, I think this is my favourite outfit of the one’s you’ve posted this year - and I’ve liked a lot of the OOTD that you’ve shared.

Thanks everybody - sorry to post and run. I was tied up at work all day and just have to run out for a much needed massage. THEN I will come back and respond individually.

In the meantime, the sleeve lining isn’t terribly interesting but I tried rolling it back to let more of the sweater sleeve show. It’s all pretty bulky so doesn’t lend itself very well to scrunching. Also added a shot of the jacket fabric. The dark colour in the pattern can read as burgundy, which is what drew me to this combo.

Love this ! And the sleeve scrunching looks good - it’s supposed to add structure and interest and it does here.

An aside , I was going to post about an orange cashmere sweater I bought and am frozen in indecision over . Not my usual response to things . Burgundy leather pants might now be in my future . Where did you find these?

Yes, Carla -- Laundry by Shelli Segal. I got them at Winners (big surprise!).

Lisa, I am pretty sure I found these at the Pembina Hwy location. On clearance for $28. There were a couple of pairs there when I bought these on Saturday.

Dee -- the pants almost didn't happen, so it's rather thrilling to see them getting so much love!
Slim cat -- A pendant would be a great addition. I tend not to wear necklaces to work because of the work-provided beauty you see dangling around my neck. I guess I could try clipping it in other places, but when it's around my neck I know where it is when I need it.
Angie -- Thank you! I'm in love with the pairing too. Funny, isn't it -- I get clothes that match the old glasses just in time for the new ones to arrive! I suspect I will still pull these out from time to time, though. The lining isn't terribly special, but I did try rolling them back and pulling out the sweater sleeve a bit more.

And yes, Lisa -- I guess I am predictable that way. It's the variety and the return policy. I have actually had a pair of brown faux leather pants in my closet for several weeks now. I wished they were burgundy when I bought them, but they were at least quite a red brown, and they still worked with the burgundy oxfords. Still, I couldn't quite commit. And then Saturday, I found the burgundy ones and it all came together....

I’m late to this, but this is SO GOOD! I love the colors, the fit, everything. Perfectly current and easy — this seems like effortless style to me, since we were discussing that term in another thread!
