Every year I treat myself to a nice item for my birthday, and this year I went a little over the top with these Theory burgundy boots I am completely smitten with. Even with Friends & Family discount they were very pricey, but I think they are worthy of the price, as tall burgundy boots are rare, and boots that fit my very narrow calves are even rarer. I also like that they have the trendy lug sole, but are otherwise pretty refined and narrow. Because of the elastic sides and lacing, they also work over skinny jeans.
My actual birthday was yesterday, and I went out for a nice outdoor dinner with a friend. It was supposed to be with a group of friends, but all sorts of scheduling issues and unexpected things happened. As a consequence, I will be having 2 or 3 more birthday meals with other friends (all separately), so I am not complaining. And I set myself mini challenge that I will wear these boots for each of them, styled differently.
Last night, I did a rendition of the Wine on Ice ensemble, one my favorite ensemble posts ever, as it combines two of my favorite pseudo-neutrals, burgundy and light blue. I even bought the exact same scarf featured in that post. I wore a simple light blue ribbed knit sweater, burgundy satin asymmetric skirt, light blue boucle moto, and a burgundy cross-body bag. During the actual outdoor dinner, they had a lovely fire going in the fire pit, so I removed the jacket and draped the said scarf around my shoulders. It was a very nice evening.
