WIW - red legs!

Age inappropriate? Perhaps. Fun? You bet. And the tights, by great good fortune, perfectly matched the T-shirt.

Of course, they were mostly covered in riding boots when I went out (to meet Freckles!) but I did wear my white coat to make the colours pop. I admit to feeling a little visible, even with the riding boots. What do you think? Should I have been more adventurous and worn the booties? Should I have toned everything down a bit with the dark coat? Keep in mind that these colours, as always with my camera, are a little more vivid in real life.

And I had a lovely time with Freckles.

I really like your whole outfit except the tights. I have a poison eye for non-neutral color or patterned tights.... it would work better for me with black tights and boots.

I love that you're purshing your comfort zone a bit JR - good for you! Isn't it fun? I love the red tights and prefer it with the higher boots. Not because I don't want more red tights to show but because I think the proportions work better with this outfit. Your scarf is gorgeous BTW!

Your expressions are priceless. I also have a poisoned eye for colored tights and would have liked black better, but I think you pull it off. I like the first photo best with the flats followed by the knee high boots. The scarf is lovely. You might try adding a belt.

You have great legs, yes. Although for this outfit, I prefer the taller boots. I also would like to see a belt on the skirt.

Good for you to get outside your comfort zone. I am totally not in tight headspace but you have inspired me to try tights and a skirt sometime soon.

I love coloured or textured tights so this outfit is good in my book. I prefer the taller boot - very sleek.

I like all three outfits, and I think you great in all of them! I do not think colored tights as you are wearing them are age inappropriate. (I saw a teenage girl here wear tweety bird tights - those I would not recommend)

I like the tall boots best, but honestly, any of them would work.

I love colored tights! They bring a touch of color to winter outfits. I prefer the outfits with the boots and booties better than the one with flats.

Tweety Bird tights! Oh Thistle, you had me spluttering with that! No danger of me pushing my comfort zone that far...

I did think about wearing a belt, but I spent most of the day with the sweater on and closed at waist level, so I decided it wasn't worth it and I would spare myself the extra bulk. But I do get the point. Especially after seeing the photos.

The scarf is an old example of pushing my comfort zone. It was given to me years ago, and I didn't like it to begin with. But it gradually grew on me, and now I love it. Another example of why I am not too quick to purge things, especially accessories. Fashion changes, my tastes change, and the wheel goes around. And it's the only scarf I have that combines red and navy, so it was a natural with this outfit and all the more so since I was going out, and the warmth at the throat was a must.

Fun! I prefer it with the tall boots for the reason Shannon gave. I love the colour with denim. And I do not think it is at all age-inappropriate!

My first thought was to go with the knee highs, get comfortable with that look and then ease into the booties. Then I read Shannon and Suz' comments about proportions and think they have a point : ) Of course I never would have come to that conclusion on my own.

When you DO get your tweety bird tights......I had a tweety bird back pack in junior high school. Now I'm sorry I no longer have it to share with you : )

I do hope those booties are not something that I'm going to have difficulty making work. I was so happy to find them. But I am starting to question their height.

This looks so not age-inappropriate! I love colored tights, and you wear them so well. I think I prefer the tall boots here to avoid too many similar sizes/lengths of color blocks along your legs. If you want, you could try the red tights with the booties, but wear a red skirt instead. Then the height of the booties will be just fine. Or black tights, of course. I'm happy to hear that you and Freckles had a good time together.

Ingunn, you enabler you! A red skirt... I had a fake leather one when I was 13, and I think that was the last time. But such a fun idea! Matching the red would be the challenge then. I will keep my eyes open.

I can see that a red skirt might be a challenge. But a brown? Or burgundy? A lot calmer, but more in the same value range as the red, then the colors will blend. THAT would work - promise!

I think your outfit looks great and the coloured tights are not age inappropriate:). I also prefer the taller boots as they create better proportions and I quite like that they offer a "hint" of the red tights which I find more interesting g and attractive.

I'm most comfortable with the tall boots and just a hint of the red too. Although when the jacket is off, the larger block of the red shirt balances the red below a little better, it seems to me, so it's not so bad with the flats. But the flats were just for at home anyway, so not so serious. I'm allowed to be as unbalanced as I want at home. In both senses of the word. Ahem.

Both booted versions look fab to me! The two with the flats read a little too twee, but textured dark tights would be super with those.

I am the outlier here-- I prefer with the ballet flats! I LOVE this on you and I can't understand the objections. It's really no different, to my eye, than wearing colored jeans. Is it? No. Then again maybe my eye is just accustomed to it since I see colored tights quite a lot in Boston. (Okay not that we are the fashion capital of the world.. heh).

That said, I personally prefer topping bright tights with black microfishnets or black patterned tights, as it tones it down and makes it more subtle. That's because I'm just not that daring. But I don't own any colored jeans either (okay I have a pair in the mail... I'm going to try it out).

The tall boots are my least favorite as I think it looks too choppy, color wise. Either go full on with ballet flats for long strip of color, or don't. You could try the tall boots with red tights with black microfishnets over.

Out of all of them, I prefer the ballet flats the best. I think I am in favor of a less segmented look. I think there is lots of segmentation going on at the same time with the other shoe choices.

I like all of these version except without the jacket. I see a bit of fit issue at the waist of the skirt (and empty belt loops? I confess to a poison eye for exposed, unfilled belt loops).

But with the jacket I love, love, love it! Personally I like all the footwear choices. Fun and vibrant!
